  4. my best mate is a customs officier (seriously) added to that, i work opposite a very popular place the dippers operate, so clean white diesel is the only way for me
  5. any of you lads know much about these engines. seems that in the peugeot expert both engines were produced side by side for quite a few years. this would make me think the older engine must have been very good, 2.0 hdi gives better economy, and more up to date technology. but is it a better engine. currently looking at 2 crew vans/combi (6 seater), both 2005. 1.9td has 72k miles, £2300 2.0hdi has 69k miles, £3250. there isn't a grands difference in them cosmetically, and both run 100%. but is there £1000 of better engine for long term driving.
  6. anyone got any off road toys, 4x4 jeeps, quads, scramblers, for fun in the muck. this is my new toy, '95 v6 shogun. 33" kumho kl71 tyres on patrol alloys, 12000lb winch, snorkel, and rear diff locker. this was my old suzuki sj410 31" dirt devil tyres, roll cage, proper bucket seat with 5 point harness. not much else
  7. i know a lad with a jumbuck, think his is petrol, 1.5 or 1.6, he changed from a diesel skoda pick up, says theres not much difference running ways. 43.5 mpg over last 1500 miles. its quieter than the skoda, but not car quiet. i'd have 1 no probs
  8. the handle looks the same, but i want seperate finger guard and pommel, and short blade. unfortunately i know what i want lol now i must decide if i can justify the expense, probably going to be twice my original estimate, but i can't use it twice as much lol until i decide, we will continue to use our cut down mora knives.
  9. drinking pigeons milk is a cure for warts
  10. first knife will be for myself, the second is for a very good friend, he's turning 50 at the end of the year, so its a big pressie. i was kind of expecting to pay £130-200 each, does that sound about right?

  12. i think your talking big cats here. 1)the lions in dublin zoo stink 2)they have 3" gap between their teeth 3)they love eating metal. they weren't after the hens, but the tin
  13. think it probably easier to say exactly which meat you don't like. i didn't like old red stag, shot not long after the rut. was like eating a sock. jellied eel was foul. otter was just plian fecking stinking.
  14. i'm just sitting here in work, eating a sandwich. 1 is chinese pork chop sandwich, the other is frying steak. not sure whether they are my top spot for favorite meat or not. no, i think i like wild boar belly and leg more. whats your favorite meat
  15. looks like a fecking leggy jack russell to me. does it do the gerbils single handed?
  16. i only meant doing foxes 3 nights a week, when possibly sick of them or haven taken some abuse, then deer or rabbits the next week etc
  17. no quite, just because you've finished reading that book, doesn't mean you can't read more. things happen in life, lose dogs, quit the hunting for few years etc, but when you get back into it, with hindsight you might decide to persue a different direction in the sport.
  18. is there really dogs out there that will take all irish and uk game. from rabbits, hare, fox, deer (ignore red stags), pheasants etc, and actually do it on a regular basis, pre ban an all that ole shite. capable of lifting 3 foxes 3 times a week, couple of deer, and big numbers of rabbits, plus do say 2 of 3 hares. do they exist in normal lurcher breedings, or are they freak 1 of pups, entered correctly and just bloody lucky. if they do exist naturally, what would you say is the breeding/cross most likely to throw an " All rounder "
  19. If you were starting out again, and all game and vermin was fair game and legal. What type of dog would you want to have? 1) what breeding/cross 2) what size 3) what would be chosen quarry 4) how many dogs would you want to keep. 5) day dog, lamping dog, or day and night dog
  20. nobody would harden the steel in the handle area, i believe you may have a box of bad/poor quality drill bits.
  21. not a bother, should be handy done. could also use 2" angle iron and just drill and bolt it together.
  22. those bottom frames look like they are made from ordinary 50x50mm box section. if you know anyone with a welder, ask them to build you it. 20 mins would do it. i'm not far from newry, if your anyway close, then i'll do it for you, prob have enough scrap 2" box at home to knock it up.
