    Well the miroku and the browning are the same gun and in standard form made in the same factory. I would also agree that the miroku makes the browning look a little on the expensive side but they hold their value better too!

    Easy question, easy answer, what fits you better? I can't shoot for toffee with a berreta but with my browning I hit most of what I point at. Go to a good knowledgable gun shop try both for fit and buy the one that points where your looking naturally. ATB Jonno

    Sportingshooter is correct, I have both an SGC and an FAC I also have a variation for slugs on my FAC. The slugs are limited, buy 250 keep 300 on my ticket in the same way as rifle ammo. I got My Shot gun cert years before my FAC so I am afraid I don't know about buying standard cartridges with an FAC as I have always used my SGC. Cheers Jonno

    I would second 223's comments, if someone needs a mentor in the Kent/Sussex area I am happy to help, you can have a run round my permissions with me. Having said that the other way to get through this new hoop of mentoring you can always join a rifle club too. I never thought that paper-punching was very interesting but I joined my local club to get some range time. It cost £100 per annum and the club meet at least twice a month and I have found them to be an interesting bunch of people.     I was told that unless you have an open ticket an FAC shotgun can only be used on the land you have on your ticket. You could always ask for the Shotgun to be on an open ticket with the rest closed but you will need a good reason. ATB Jonno

    Thanks guys, Dan, I didn't realise you had to drop off the scope to clean it, thats a bit of a downside. I have spoken to my local gun shop and they have a couple in stock so I'm going to go and have a look but to be honest if I have to take the scope off to clean it (and being a .22 semi I will have to clean it at some point!) then I may look elsewhere Markha thanks for the tip I may have a look at those, I'm stilll not sure if the whole black gun tactical thing is for me though!     Afternoon all, I am in the market for a .22 semi auto for a bit of fun taking to the range and probably the occasional lamping foray as a change to my HW60.     Hi Rhoderick, I too had this ssue wth my escort, I took it back to the shop I bought it from and asked them to take it back, instead I got a lesson in how to clean it!! The last thing you want to do is oil it, all the muck from the burnt and unburn powder in the gases which cycle the action stick to it and this is what bungs up the action. The tip I was given was to use nitro powder solvent or rifle cleaning foam, I use both Parker Hales 009 and Hoppes rifle cleaning foam. They both leave the action very clean and the leave behind a dry finnish which also leaves a lightly lubricate

    Matt, I agree, I am sure that all land is vetted prior to approval. That is why I was suggesting that the police must have a database or a mapping system of where they deem safe. I also agree that I think Scotland has a much more sensible system. Having said that, in most areas of Scotland there is not the density of population that is prevelant in England which procludes allowing people with little or now prior experience being granted open tickets. To qualify my statement, we don't generally have the large unpopulated areas enjoyed in Scotland. As has been said before, I do not think

    Not sure Rake, I know that when I had a 'closed' FAC no-one came out and checked the land I had permission over. Like you I have an open FAC so I can shoot wherever I have authority and I deem safe. I too have never heard of this seven year rule. I am assuming that Police have a database or some maping that shows what is suitable. Perhaps they have to come out if there has been any matterial changes to the land around your permission like as housing development or such.

    I think you have probably had most of your questions answered, but just in case, there is a really helpful and informative document on the BASC website about how to apply for your FAC.     Sorry I forgot to mention, although I am sure you know, at 15 you can have an FAC. Unfortunatley until your 18 (I think) you can't actually buy a gun or cartridges they have to be 'gifted' to you. Daft but true.     Morning Ryan, When you get your shotgun certificate its not like a FAC in that it doesnt list the guns your allowed to hold. You can buy as many shotguns as your cabinet can hold. Your firearms officer may well give you advice ie 'thats a nine gun cabinet so you can hold nine guns' or something similar, well mine did. Although I am sure people will tell you this isn't a legal requirment or binding I have generally found if your polite and tow the line with the FEO down the line it will be in your favour.     I would recomend having a look at the Redfield range, its made by Leupold in the same factory as their scopes and you get the same amazing warranty. The warranty is worth having, trust me I had an issue with a Leupold scope sent it back to them and they fixed it and sent it back free of charge. I have a 3-9x50 Redfield on my Weihrauch .22 and its a cracker. As for rings and mounts on a rimmy you wont go far wrong with Sportsmatch rings. ATB Jonno
