  1. Hi all, As the title suggests I am after some advice about importing from the States. I am after a new scope and I am a bit of a fan of Leupold, due to the price difference one imported from the US is roughly half the price of one here. My question is has anyone got any experience of doing this and hopefully the name of a good company to deal with. I am aware that anything imported could be subject to duty, I am also aware that if you have a friendly company who mark it 'gift', 'repair' or similar you can avoid this. Some help and advice would be greatly appreciated. A
  2. What are you currently using? is your 410 chambered for 3 inch cartridges? ATB Jonno
  3. I am pretty sure it is but could you confirm that this is a 30mm tube? ATB Jonno
  4. I got mine opened after about 6 months but I didn't ask for it to be opened. Each time I got a new peice of land I wrote to the police and gave them the details and the permission letter (I had about 7 farms I had permission to shoot over probably 7-8000acres). When I put in for a variation for my a 17HMR (I had two .22's and a 22.250 on my ticket at the time) and the FEO came round to see me for the variation he told me that when I got my Ticket back it would be opened. I live in kent and I have to say, other than tickets sometime taking a while to come back (it alway feels like ages
  5. Just wait for EVERYONE to recomend a CZ............................................ Because they always recomend CZ's I have a Weihrauch HW66 and I bought it simply for the trigger and stock. ATB Jonno

  7. The best thing you can do is go to the gunshop and try them both for fit and feel. Go and shoulder both and the one that feels right and fits better is the one you should buy. Have you had a look at one of the new Hatsan O/U for the price you are looking at you could have a brand new one with a three year warranty and they are getting some pretty good reviews: http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/hatsan_silver_select/ On Guntrader there are brand new ones in your price range. Hope that helps ATB Jonno

  10. You pay your money you take your choice. I wasn't saying CZ's weren't any good read the rest of the thread. What I said was I had one and it wasn't for me, we all have our likes and dislikes. If you take the time to read the thread form the begining what I said was the OP has a Weihrauch in .17HMR which he likes very much and if you have one you like and get on with it why not buy the same in .22? I also did not say I didnt like semi-autos. If there was a semi-auto which was as accurate and as reliable as a bolt action I would be first in the que! I had a ruger 10/22 and I loved the se
  11. The CZ 453 has a set trigger. Its a standard 452 and the trigger works normally, but then if you push the trigger forward it becomes a set trigger which is almost a hair trigger. Its all personal prefferance but I preffer a two stage trigger like the ones on Anschutz and Weihrauch rifles. Hope that helps. ATB Jonno
  12. Sorry Paul, but if you read back no-one was slagging off CZ's. Nor was anyone saying that they were not accurate, all I said was that it wasn't the gun for me, that's all. I also said that the original poster has a Weihrauch which from his previous posts he is very pleased with in 17HMR, therefore if he is made up with the 17HMR it would seem to make sense to buy one in 22. As they will have the same trigger break, stock set up etc, we all know the more consistent we are the better we shoot and this goes for kit too. As I have said before I had a CZ and I didn't get on with it, that is
  13. I see where your coming from on the cost issue, having said that why not save up for a few weeks/months and get what you truely want. Speaking from experience there is nothing worse than picking the gun out of the cabinet and being dissapointed with it especially if you love the other rimmy you use all the time. Don't get me wrong we all have a budget but the difference between a second hand cz and a second hand Weihrauch to match your 17HMR is going to be maybe £200-£300 so why not just wait and get what you actually want rather than rushing in and and regretting it afterwards. I know
  14. For that sort of money you could buy yourself a new Hatsan over & under brand new with a three year warranty: http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/results.php?&Filter[NewType][]=Shotgun&Filter[NewMechanism][]=Over%20and%20Under&Filter[Calibre][]=12%20gauge&Filter[Make][]=Hatsan%20Arms They just got a good write up here: http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/hatsan_silver_select/ To be honest for they money with a three year warranty that is going to be hard to beat!! Hope that helps. ATB Jonno
  15. I would agree with John above if you just want a cheapo semi auto for plinking I can't see anything wrong with buying the cheapest possible. I would question the point though. Unfortunatley my fire arms department will not give me lots of slots on my license especialy in the same calibre (I used to have 2 slots for a .22 but changed one for a .17hmr) accordingly all my rifles have to sing for their supper which means for a .22 being good for bunny bashing. For me having had experiences with a number of ruger 10/22's including owning one I will be sticking with a good quality bolt actio
  16. Oh and the other thing I would say (from my experience!!) is that if you buy something cheap and then don't like it you then have to sell it and lose money getting rid of it and you have all the hassle of sending off your licence back to the police and wait an age for them to sort it out and get it back to you. I am not trying to be the harbinge of doom just from my experience I made some poor choices with my .22 rimfire and wish I had just bought a quality .22 from the off as I would still have it! (I bought the CZ and then I bought a delux ruger 10/22 both of which I kept for less than a
  17. I am inclined to agree with Hunter_Zero on the thrust of his post. In esscence 'buy cheap buy twice'! The difference between a 'cheap' .22 and a top of the range or prestige maker and not that significant maybe the difference of £400-£500 quid extra for an Anschutz, Weihrauch or Sako over a Magtech Having said that I personally would not go for a CZ, my first rifle was a CZ 453 (which is the same as a 452 but had a set trigger set up) and it was not really the gun for me so I got rid of it. I don't want to get into what guns best type of discussion because everyone will just say 'my xx
  18. Evening all, I am after a little help! I need another magazine for a Weihrauch HW60 in 22LR any know of anywhere I can get one from? and does anyone know if you can get a larger capacity one or is it five rounds only? and lastly any idea how much I am going to get turn over for one?! Any help greatly appreciated ATB Jonno
  19. I have a weihrauch HW66: http://www.weihrauch-sport.de/englisch/e_startseite/e_index.htm I think its a great bit of kit, its one of those guns that just feels right when you pick it up and it has a man sized stock, not like some other rimfires which always feel a bit small (but I am six foot six) but it is quite heavy. I have been very very impressed by the accuracy of it, it certainly shoots better than I do! I wood also say that I think the quality of it is easily as good, if not better than an anschutz with a beautifull trigger which I think is better than my old .22 Anschut
  20. I have got a stock for a CZ 452 .17HMR. I don't own a CZ anymore if you interested I would be happy to sell it to you? let me know if your interested. ATB Jonno

  22. If you want a bargain the new berreta ES100 is a proper steel. Its basically a re badged Benneli (only a lots cheaper) Benneli is owned by Berreta. It runs on the older Beneli action. It runs on recoil and not gases so the action doesn't just get filed up with powder residue and muck which are botha pain in the arse to clean and can make the gun unreliable. If you have the cash I would recomend a Benneli first but the Berreta is unbelievable value brand new on guntrader they have them from £725, for a Berreta! http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/100807171926002 Having said t
  23. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree its your hobby and why not spend the cash if you have it (I should know I spend FAR too much on my rifles and shotguns!) I just think that for an air rifle which might shoot out to 60ish yards on a good day its a bit wasted, why not get an FAC and stick i on a .22 rimmy which will be more accurate and shoot out to 100 yards. I hear what you saying about the magnification but having looked through one the field of view is nice and wide which would be perfect for a .22 rimmy and if you spending the money why not put it on a proper gun.
