My ultra absolutely loves the H&N Baraccuda hunter extreme in .177 give them a try mate, it also loves AA field, both produce equally minute groups, and if needed I can switch pellet with only a slightly lower impact on the Baraccuda's being a bit heavier 9.57 gn apposed to 8.44, give them both a go, but avoid cheap crap like gamo mate.

This kind of thing always winds me up, I can understand if shooting in a sensitive area why it would be a good idea to inform the police of your activities, but there is absolutely no requirement in law to inform the police of your lawful shooting activities, the fact is most coppers know very very little about firearms law, and seem to think they can act on impulse and make the law up as they go, police should be impartial and leave personal feelings whatever they may be at home.

Not an air rifle, but my .22 rimmy is semi auto, and to be perfectly honest I find myself taking just as much care in the shot as a single shot rifle, and lets face it thats with a 100 ftlb 40 grn bullet, so no I dont think it would make a lot of difference.

First attempt - got lucky

Well done that centre group is a belter mate, I would stick with that one, try it out at 200-250 yards just to check but that looks like job done to me. -
Ordered and paid for, the " NEW GUN"
charlie caller replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Just needs tuning now then Mark -
Not a bad rifle at all mate, but with all springers it will benefit enormously from a strip down, de burr and a polish, some delrin bits, spring guide/top hat etc, and a proper re lube, do that and you will have an outstanding little vermin rifle for sensible money.
-
Well done old boy, I have one in .177 and it is incredibly accurate, I would say as good as anything out there, you will find it shoots best at a fill pressure of just under 200 bar giving around 25 full power shots, you can of course do lots to an ultra, longer air tube, shrouded barrel, regulator, etc etc, well done lets see some pics of your first victims

Air Arms Pro Sport mk1 .177
charlie caller replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Yes the prosport being one of them, just my opinion of course, but to me anyway the prosport shoots just that little bit nicer and is balanced that little bit better, and although looks are largely immaterial, the prosport has to be one of the best looking springers of all time. -
Now your talking mate, get it bought.
-
Then wait and get a .177 mate, I know I would be disappointed in a .22 and would regret buying one, it would always niggle me, and I would end up selling it just to get what I wanted.

Air Arms Pro Sport mk1 .177
charlie caller replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
.177 mate, you know you will regret it otherwise -
As I said I liked mine, it was pretty low powered on co2, however when I hpa converted it, it ran at a very consisten level just below the limit, it was very accurate and after I modded the trigger it was a pleasure to shoot, but thats the thing, if you are spending £400 why not get something quality that needs no modding and tweaking, there are so many better rifles out there for similar money especially on the second hand scene, £400 will get you a superb used Air arms s410, or an ultra and a quality scope for instance, both are vastly superior in build quality and materials to an rm8, dont

Air Arms Pro Sport mk1 .177
charlie caller replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I prefer the prosport to the tx every time, I have only owned one, but worked on quite a few, I can easily get a prosport in either calibre up to mid 11s with only a minimum of tweaking, I could easily get one up to around 16-17 ftlbs if one was to be put on ticket, the internals on tx and prosport are exactly the same, so that goes for either rifle, by the way, Simons prosport was doing around 11.4 out of the box, I set it to 11.3 after tuning, in light of the fact that it would creep up, which it has to a consistent 11.7 now. -
I like the tricep workout using a pump provides, cant be arsed with bottles, all that testing and filling
-
The rifle is basically an 850 air magnum converted to air, I actually did a conversion on one, I actually really liked it, it was very accurate, I dont know if they have improved the trigger on them but if you get one and its not so good, pm me and I will explain a very simple mod to convert it to a nice two stage trigger, having said all that, I would probably buy a BSA ultra/scorpion if that was my budget, but whatever, good luck mate.

Practice, practice and practice again.

Cracking group mate, many would struggle to achieve that with a pcp. -
Thats why I have a pump lol.

Daystate Red Wolf Serie Rosso Limited Edition
charlie caller replied to lindleyjohn123's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I can sympathise with a man wanting the top end kit in any sport/hobby the best golf clubs, best fly fishing tackle, top flight push bike etc if thats your thing, but I just cant see this two and a half grand rifle being any better performance wise than many quality pcp rifles I could list, costing a quarter of the price, as much as I like my air rifles, I would never consider spending what I personally think is a ridiculous amount on an air rifle, as I said each to his own, and its your hard earned cash and you are entitled to spend it on whatever you like, but quite how they can dream up a £ -
Daystate Red Wolf Serie Rosso Limited Edition
charlie caller replied to lindleyjohn123's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Ye its a fancy Cometa Lynx, seriously I have owned one and had it apart, and at a glance that Daystate shares a lot of very similar features, ok I accept it should be better made, from better materials, and it is electronic oooooooooooh, but I repeat, two and a half grand for a poxy air rifle, I bet every one of those stands Daystate at about £500 all in, again in my humble opinion, its a ludicrous price, but each to his own I guess. -
Daystate Red Wolf Serie Rosso Limited Edition
charlie caller replied to lindleyjohn123's topic in General Airgun Discussion
It does bear a striking resemblance to a Cometa Lynx mate, I like that, but two and a half grand for an air gun I dont think so, anyone who pays that for an air rifle is off their head in my humble opinion. -
Ye I keep pondering about putting an fac air on my ticket, if I did .25 would be my choice, I reckon a Cometa lynx running around 40 ftlbs would be pretty damn good too, having said that a .25 ultra with a longer air tube etc would be rather interesting also.
