    Quite agree, if you can have it shooting sweet @ 11.5 then go for it, to the op youtube is your friend, just make sure you check and dont exceed the legal limit.

    Ffs buy a .177 and realise that in sub 12 ftbs air rifle land you have the best killing tool for the job, its up to you at the end of the day, but as I said I have been air rifle hunting for 30 plus years, if you want to put more game in the bag, BUY A .177

    Exactly gents, 9ftlbs is 9ftlbs, whichever pellet calibre it happens to be,.177 requires more air to push it to the same energy level as .22, hence in your pcp you will get less shots from a given fill than in .22, or a spring gun will need more spring power in .177 than .22 to achieve the same energy level,VWman, both calibres will kill humanely with a correctly placed shot, and I own both calibres, however in 30+ years of hunting with air rifles (and I have said this before,and no doubt will again ) I prefer .177 as a hunting calibre, I have achieved enough instant one shot kills at decent

    If both pellets arrive at the target doing lets say 9ftlbs, how can one "hit harder" than the other? The striking force is the same, the .177 will penetrate further as it has a smaller surface area and is travelling faster, so may not dump all its energy into the target, but we are talking about shooting a rabbit with an air rifle, not a deer @ 250 yards and discussing the merits of say a .243 v .308 using expanding ammunition, a head or neck shot on a rabbit or similar quarry will cause instant death, irrespective of calibre.

    They were absolute mustard through my hw 77, deadly, the 99s did shoot them ok but not as well as the 77, but of course yours may well be different, going to try them in .22 in the new 99s.

    My .177 Cometa ynx is spitting Bisley magnums out at 707 fps and they are 10.65 grain which is 11.82 ftlbs, these are the most efficient pellets in the rifle, believe me, head or neck shot rats and rabbits drop on the spot.

    On this one mate, I am going to use nothing but Ultimox on the rifle, spring and piston, I usually use dri-slide on the piston, and a bit of moly on the spring, which has always given good results, however after seeing the results of ultimox on a mates old HW35 I am sold, the thing with it is, even if it gets past the piston seal, it WILL NOT DIESEL, the other one is Quantum hot sauce, which is actually a fishing reel grease, but again I have seen and heard damn good things about it, and you can get it from this country, my advice for what its worth, get some ultimox, but make sure you proper

    Yes it has. It has but you can easily dial it out with an Allan key,why not get a .17 rem, blinding little fox round out to 350yards or so.

    Very accurate round without doubt, but it is just too close in performance to a .243, to make it a viable alternative, yes it can fire a heavier round, but at the trade off of trajectory like a rainbow, if I switched from the .243, it would be the venerable .25-06 for me.

    My wheatherby .243 fluted bolt, trigger job, PES moderator, Boyds custom stock, will print a ragged one hole group at 100 yards, with my grain Sierra reloads, air rifles love this .177 Cometa Lynx its a proper bag filler, favourite air rifle ever, my tuned BSF b55 Bavaria, oh how I wish I still had that rifle.
