  1. Then as said you have got a good one, if you want a small light full power rifle similar to your hw30 get yourself a hw99 a TBT tuning kit and a Vortek piston seal, along with some polishing and fettling will get it up to close to the legal limit, BUT it will have to be a .22 mate, as the .177 version will not get much above 10.5 ftlbs.
  2. I will second that, as I have one, light, well made, and as Mark says, incredibly accurate rifle.
  3. Get the Barrel screw cut mate, just make sure whoever does it knows what they doing, worth spending a bit more on a man with a good reputation.
  4. I dont shoot targets with it mate, it had only been used at a club by the previous owner, well lets put it like this, I have head shot rabbits out to around 90-100 yards with it, you can ask no more of a rimfire than that, seriously, it does astound me how accurate it is, I am not really into pushing the rimfire envelope like some, and trying to shoot rabbits at 150 yards, I dont need to, if I want to shoot seriously long range rabbits,(which I dont) I will take the .243 and shoot them at several hundred yards, to me a .22 rimmy is a hundred yard maximum bunny gun, my 511 fills that criteria s
  5. Trust me mate, you need to shoot one, and the power is absolutely spot on after bedding in,I bought mine from Holland, I bought the 12 ftlbs version, they also sell an 18ftlb version in .177 so mate getting the power to where you need it is not an issue honestly.
  6. Mark, to answer your questions, yes I did sell it, the only reason being, I like to do a lot of wandering around, and I refuse to walk round with an air rifle that weighs more than my .243 with its huge moderator, do I miss it ? Yes I certainly do, it was insanely accurate, smooth and quiet, the trigger is not as good as the rekord unit, however Rowan engineering sell a kit which is meant to transform it,the stock on my master pro (ambi) was quite nice, it was a standard dark beech sort of thing, but certainly not unpleasant or cheap, the LGV/LGU rifles are noted for creeping up in power after a
  7. Hi Charlie, I`ve fancied the LGV competition ultra for a while now but the 10.2 ft/lb to 10.4 ft/lbs muzzle energy put me off but the accuracy of the LGV is tremendous. The 10 lbs weight without a silencer is also a thought to those who go walk abouts, to me, no as I do loads of static hunting. atb Well I had the LGV master pro and I can tell you it certainly was not doing 10 ftlbs it did 11 straight out of the box, I stripped it gave it a relube and added a power washer, it sat at 11.6 for about a tin of
  8. I have a CZ 511 semi auto, its mint and prior to me buying it had only been shot at a target club, the thing staggers me as to how accurate it is with Eley subs, I had an Anschutz 1417 bolt action with match trigger and barrel, and hand on heart this CZ is every bit as accurate, and people slag semi autos off saying they are not as accurate as a bolt action, well this one, I would put against any bolt action field rifle anyday.
  9. Probably % of the time I go out alone, certainly with the air rifle, I just like sitting on my own in the woods and watching things as much as shooting, Deer stalking I am generally with one other, wildfowling, well I go onto the marsh in company, but always sit on my own in my muddy hole lol.
  10. Walther LGV in .177 job done, in fact you might as well get rid of the TX lol, out of the other 3 you mention hw 77 in .177 once tuned.
  11. Well done sir, if you want a quick easy way to do the pheasant, rub the breast with Garlic salt, slice an apple and put it inside the bird, put some smokey bacon over the breast, cover in tinfoil and roast until done, enjoy.
  12. Good to hear its coming together mate, to be honest I am surprised you fitted the short stroke at all, I would not have thought an 85 would benefit from it, an yes, but its always good to experiment, thats how we learn mate, think you will have a nice smooth rifle there buddy.
  13. +1 on the Cerakote seen a couple of full bore rifles done in it, very nice and say bye bye to rust.
  14. I will be interested to see how you get on with it Dan, you are correct the was never really designed for the 12ftlb limit, and they do run superbly at fac levels, but the WW kit should go some way to addressing the vibration and recoil, maybe some additional polishing and a TBT short stroke kit if you find it too much mate.
  15. Good semi auto these, bargain for someone that, cant imagine it will be round for long mate.
  16. Do you rate them in the same league as the tx / hw 77/97 group CC, I was looking at one a little while bavk but dithered a bit to long and it was gone. Would like your thoughts on the lgu especially Dj I have never owned the LGU but have had the LGV, let me just say this, I have owned and used just about every top noch spring rifle out there, out of the box my LGV was without a doubt the smoothest, quietest, pcp accurate spring rifle I have ever shot, and I am including some tuned rifles from some well respected tuners, the lock time is something else,it is so quick that you have to rem
  17. Both excellent rifles mate, but what calibre are you wanting? The in .177 can be very snappy, the problem is the was never really meant to run at sub 12ftlb levels, and performs much better at fac levels, however, you can get a short stroke kit for them from Tinbum tuning, this will speed up the lock time and tame some of the recoil, both rifles are very easy to work on,so really it boils down to break barrel or underlever, break barells are every bit as accurate as underlevers mate, especially a quality rifle with a good breach lock up system.
  18. No no no Walther LGV/LGU the best springer without a doubt.
  19. I found the 35 grain vmax to be pretty good the longest shot on a fox was if memory serves about 180 yards, however the one that really shined in my hornet was the Sierra 45grain hornet varminter, it was superbly accurate and really held its flat trajectory far better than I would have imagined, and dropped foxes like a light switch going out.
  20. Im in Sheffield mate,so if you head this way at all you could always drop her off, anyway let me know if you want any help with it.
  21. Right mate, using h110 produces quite hot loads in the hornet, although it does work superbly,PPU brass is rather thick, so I think you may find that you will not get a lot of 110 in before you are approaching over pressure loads, I would suggest using lil gun with your PPU brass, to be quite honest, it is very hard to get enough lilgun into a hornet case to produce an over pressure load, it produces such low pressures for the velocity it provides, so I would deffo say try ligun mate, oh and Walshie,do spend the extra and get the Lee factory crimp die, it is a must with hornet re loading in my
