  1. I expect there are a few. The trouble is, how would you spot them?
  2. None of that explains why you couldn't pay at the time, and have taken so long to put things right? I've little sympathy with the OP because I can't imagine selling a dog to anyone; but if what has been said is right, then do you have any explanation for it?

  4. Fook me undi, I thought you were one of the more intelligent members.... As I've already said (twice now) it's not that there wasn't a thread (there was here: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/236831-john-humphreys/) it's that like lots of other relevant threads, they get drowned under the deluge of bollocks threads that are posted. Someone who influenced alot of people, and devoted his whole life to countrysports has died and you'd hardly know it when you look in here, and some american has been singer takes an OD in the bath and it's makes a four pager! I suppose that we
  5. That's just it; he wasn't just a shooting man. Lets be honest how many members on here can actually read. I sometimes wonder As for members not buying ST, what gives you that idea? This is the 'general section' of the whole forum, not just the hunting dog sections. I'm quite sure that quite a few of the shooters, ferreters and anglers on here will have heard of JH. NO, THAT IS NOT WHAT I'M WHINGING ABOUT! The whole point was that someone who was very important to the fieldsports world as a whole has died, and it barely gets a mention, yet other non fie
  6. Actually, it did get a brief mention on here last week. I'm not complaining about that, but that the priorities of some members; just look at the first page of general talk at the moment; a seven page thread about somthing called 'Glasgow Rangers' and four pages about Whitney Houston. Bollocks. Of the last four threads you've started, one was about a session with an air rifle, one about Whin, one about a thread that was deleted, and one about beer! He was indeed. He was into shooting, fishing and the good life, and wrote many articles and books on the subject.
  7. There are times when this forum just amazes me. One of the most influential fieldsports writers died last week, and barely gets a mention, while there are multiple page threads on the death of some American singer, and several threads about some Italian who decided he didn't want to help the England Soccer team loose any more. John Humpreys was a columnist in the Shooting times for over forty years; he worked alongside some great names like Fred Taylor, Chapman Pincher, BB, etc, etc, and also wrote several very entertaining books, some of which are now quite rare. Is it just me? O
  8. Lets get this right; you advocate super glueing a live worm to a mole trap? I can see the antis loving this.....
  9. I was on a wind up mate. But, how many more mental taxi drivers have to around shooting people before something changes? Got to agree. The sooner they ban taxis the better
  10. Spaniels are for people who like to spend all day shouting. OK, I'll admit it; my liver lovely isn't skinny. He's built for power and stamina. In his day he'd outwork most spaniels and black labs, though he has never been what you'd call a 'trial dog', lol. He's now retired at 11, and is currently sitting on an armchair next to me snoring and farting to his hearts content. He can still hear the gun cabinet keys from forty yards, but strangely can't hear me saying 'get off that fecking chair you git'........ Like I say, full of character, just like his owner
  11. Rabbits making a good price has to be a good thing. I was selling skinned rabbits 25 years ago for £1.50. I struggle to get £1 per rabbit in it's jacket off the tight arse gamedealers around here. Most are selling out of the door for between £4 and £7. It's good free range food, and should be worth at least £5 skinned in my opinion.
  12. 'Liver' Labrabors are much better than those boring 'robotic' yellow things. I like a dog to have a bit of drive and character. The liver gene tends to give more character (intelligence) and disobedience (drive).
  13. Here is the act in full. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/Eliz2/2-3/68 It may be worth printing off the relevant parts and letting the neighbour see it. Section 12 is interesting too:
  14. Pests Act 1954. Although no longer enforced by Natural England (or it's devolved equivilents) it can still be used in private claim against a neighbour.
  15. The second you step off your permission you are not legally allowed to 'take' rabbits. The key to the problem is the exact location of the boundry. Hedges are owned by one party or the other. There is still a legal responsibility for landowners to control rabbits on their land - it's no longer enforced, but a landowner can claim for damages caused by rabbits crossing the boundry; Network rail are an example of a landowner who has paid out. I would suggest that your farmer should approach the neighbour and ask for consent to allow you access to control the rabbits on his or her hed

Sometimes it helps to get some background about a member before replying to a post. There have been times when I've read a post or a status update, and thought 'what the hell are they going on about'? Profiles are there to be seen. If you've something to hide then don't put any information into your profile or post. This is a £$%^&*()_+, not a secret society.
  17. Are they genuine Fenn traps or just cheap copies from the far east? I ask, because you are either incapable of spelling 'Fenn' or you are trying to pass cheap copies off as the real deal.
  18. NO I didn't. What I said was Please do not misquote me. What I think about muslims isn't really the point, and what gives you the right to suggest that I shouldn't comment? You don't know me, nor do you know how much or little I know about Islam. The point I'm making is that this is sensationalist crap. The stories you've quoted are all old and out of date, and refer to sucessful prosecutions of people who've refused to take guide dogs on buses and in taxis. The original post starting the thread doesn't even refer to the UK. You can keep trotting out the
  19. I'm not a muslim, nor have I lived in any muslim country. Like many others, I do not want to see the UK become any more muslim............ BUT, that doesn't mean I buy into all the scaremongering and hype that surrounds this issue. As far as I'm concerned, they can do what they like in private (within reason), but I don't want Islam shoved down my throat any more than I want the kind of anti muslim propaganda we are seeing more and more on THL. I don't see how recycling old news stories about sucessful prosecutions for dicrimination against the blind can possibly help anyone.
  20. Having read all the quoted articles, I can't see too much to get excited about. With the exception of the Mail article (which is the usual sensationalist crap), they are individual stories (years old) about people not understanding how important guide dogs are to their owners. In all the reported cases, fines were imposed, and the Muslim community have admitted that they need to educate their people more. What was the source of this 'news'? Is the OP a member of the EDL or BNP by any chance? This is just recycled news stories to try and create anti muslim hype.
