Some people say that about dogs Where would we be as a nation without the 'umble 'oss???

Just put yourself in the position of the horse owner for a moment.... You spend a small fortune buying, keeping and training a horse, and suddenly it goes down with colic. You have no idea why, but get it right with the help of a vet and breath a sigh of relief..... A few weeks later, you go to do your horse and find that it's pulled a tendon. More vets bills, more heartache, and you have no idea why it's happened. Someone tells you that they've seen a dog running around in the field, and the owner of the dog has been feeding your horse apples, carrots and BREAD.... One day,

Not true. Lets just clarify this; the OP openly admits that he has been allowing his dog to chase rabbits in a field with horses in it. He also admits that he has been feeding the horses in that field with totally unsuitable food, AND when challenged about his behaviour threatened to kill the owner of the horses.... I think there is much more to this story than meets the eye......

I'm going to start a thread and make a tit of myself......
R. Docks replied to R. Docks's topic in General Talk
I agree, BUT, why let her get her own way? What will she learn from that? Lock it by all means, but to delete it on her say so will result in yet another load of crap a few weeks down the line. She can stamp her feet as much as she likes, she started the thread and should be made to learn from her mistakes. Just my opinion, for what it's worth. I expect this thread will disapear any second! -
Is it me? Why does someone think that it's OK to demand that a thread is removed just because the original poster has been made to look stupid?

After the post Hungerford amnesty, all the ammo that was surrendered was taken out to sea and dumped. I knew one Naval officer who was done for 'saving' some of the gear he was supposed to dump. There must be tonnes of stuff down there just waiting to wash ashore. I suppose that as the ships that were sunk rot away, more is going to be released.

It was a 'tongue in cheek comment', but catch the courts on the wrong day and it could be considered a serious offence. As for my (now former) wife; yes, she lived and breathed horses, and always put our animals first. While I sympathise with the OP, I think that the horse owner was quite within his rights to have a go. How would you feel if someone had been letting their dog run around in a field with a valuable animal, and to add insult to injury, had been hand feeding the horses bread thereby risking colic? There may have been alot more going on with other people, and they coul

If you repeat what you said in court, there is a good chance that you will be off on a holiday.... As for the dog; even if it wasn't near the horses, it may well have still spooked them. As I posted earlier, you don't know what else has been going on there either. It's easy for dog owners to forget that horse owners have similar feelings towards their animals. My wife loved hers more than the rest of us put together. Don't you think that the horse owner has just as much right to protect their 'family member' as you? I think that you've had some good advice. Go and find the hors

While I understand that this was a bit of an over-reaction from the horse owner, you have been a little stupid. Having tried to keep horses in an area where dog walkers think they can do as they please, I do have some sympathy with them. Firstly, you don't know what else has happened in that area. They may have had problems with other dog walkers that you don't know about. Horses can be very highly strung, and while your dog may not bother them too much, it doesn't take much for a horse (which is very vuluable) to 'spook' and injure themselves (we had one that pulled a tendon and cos

Got to agree with you about the quotes with multiple pictures in. It's bone lazy, and the people that do it are usually the persistant text talk users. If there were less numpties on here then maybe the moderators could spend more time editing posts to help people look slighly less thick.

Thank you for that. You may be right, BUT, other offences (being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control for example) would apply. The bottom line is that cat owners have the protection of the law, whereas dog owners have to be prepared to prove that they have carried out their 'duty of care'. The law is an ass, but it is still the law.
-
Cats don't come under the law for damage to property as they are not legally classed as property, whatever the owner might think. The law regarding property and animals dates back to the times when all 'pets' were working animals upon which a value could be put and therefore a loss incurred. However, cats were never working animals, therefore had no working or legal value and are not included in the property laws. The only thing you can be done for is if you allowed an animal (unless a pest or hunted animal) to suffer unnecessarily. Mind you, you can get out of that one by proving it died

you get on like a f*****g anti mate !!!! And you 'get on' like a dick. No matter who little you regard the law of the land; this forum is frequented by many people who would love to find reasons to pursuade the general public at large that all fieldsports are cruel and should be restricted or banned. Whenever someone posts something that could so easily be misconstrewed, it is important to make sure that we are clear about NOT breaking the law. That is for the good of all.

5 years for 91 year old soldier for folling orders 60 years ago
R. Docks replied to littletimmy's topic in General Talk
Most of the Nazis claimed to be 'following orders'.... Murder is murder. I for one am glad to see Justice done, no matter how long it has taken, or how old the murderer is. Lets not get into Nazi apologism.... -
Live rabbit catching options
R. Docks replied to Lennard's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Is it?? Can you point me at the legislation please Stubby? I think that as long as the landowner is in agreement, no law would be broken? -
Been there, got the T shirt. But perhaps there is a place for 'trainee moderators' with limited powers. Maybe, just maybe, with more people keeping an eye on things we could tidy this place up. What about you? Up for it??

Ian I'm not suggesting that the moderators respond to every report; but maybe when they decide not to take any action on a report they could let the reporting member know why. Perhaps the reports would improve then. I know for a fact that several posts that I've reported for using text talk have remained exactly the same. Now I'm sure the moderators have their reasons for not taking action, and maybe it would help if they let us know. As I say, I realise that the moderators give their time and they have alot to do to keep the forum free of spammers etc, but what happened to the '

That /\ is exactly what I mean Sean. I'm sure lot is being done 'behind the scenes', but that doesn't help encourage people to use the report facility when they don't get any feed back. If action (like editing) is taken, then we can all see that something has been done. What about when the moderators decide to do nothing? Surely it wouldn't be too much to ask that the reporting member is told that no action is going to be taken? Now before anyone jumps up and down and suggests that I'm over reacting about text talk, please go back and read what I posted earlier. I'm NOT sugge

There was a very similar thread posted recently (can be seen here), and guess what? So what happened? Please note the request for members to report rule breaking. Yes, I agree there are worse things on here than text talking, but text talking is just a symptom of a much worse disease. As for my membership, yes, I've only been a member using this ID for two years, but I used to be a member years ago and there is a huge difference in the forum now (as Moll says). I choose not to post too much about my sporting activities these days, but that's because once bitten tw

I wasn't going to post any more on this thread, but the classic post below is just what I'm talking about! If the 'report' button isn't for members to report other members breaking the forum rules then what the hell is it for?? Your post displays exactly what I mean (possibly deliberately). How hard is it to type the word 'to'?? I suppose we are going to have a flurry of 'grass' type posts now.... Anyway, I'm off for now. Have fun guys and gals, YIS

So you don't think that the moderators should enforce all the rules? I didn't think it was 'off topic'. The whole point is that this forum is not what it was, and lots of decent members have left. Why do you think that is? Yes, the 'clowns' that post some pictures, and make some statements should be deleted. The problem is that the moderators (with the help of the membership) then need to make sure that they can't re-register using a different name. The fact is that these people are damaging fieldsports for everyone, especially the next generation. We all know that stuff from h
