Either that or he gets screwed by the 'establishment' characters I'm 50/50 one day it seems like he's getting f*cked the next you think he's winning. I'd not like to have a bet on him still being alive in a year's time

I give up on being serious lol This is ME!!!!! i had you a couple of pounds heavier, and blonde I'm gorgeous but I don't want to make people feel bad about themselves, I think that's why the army turned me down I am blonde thought lol

All I will say is my missus dealt with a lot of parents that forced their kids to fake illnesses so they could get more money for the government... Trust no one!

Maybe they kept quiet....Dosnt mean they did suffer depression or spend there evenings twatting the wife It wasn't the thing to talk about it so it was kept under wraps and treated with shame. Having combat experience back then wasn't unusual like today (if fact it was the opposite) so maybe that's why people didn't talk? My great grandfather worked with leather, making cases etc, he was in the infantry in WW1 and apparently his squad threw grenades into a trench where they held captured Germans....sounds like a haunted man to me. Spoke to several vets over the years and they a

The world is a much worse place losing men like that Sorry for your loss, a year and a half ago we lost one relative who was well loved and last year the gentleman who was our 'keeper' an amazing guy and someone I wished I could be 10% of what he was, passed away....didn't get the opportunity to tell him either.

Thanks Socks I was under the impression that once you get contact with the enemy you use suppressing fire to keep their heads down while you figure out where they are. If you don't mind answering, you have a patrol that comes under fire, are they going to sit tight under fire and not shoot back whilst they figure out the firing points of the enemy etc? I'm just curious to understand the tactics Cheers! Edit and p.s you can actually see people or muzzle flashes? In such an instance, I am giggling at the back of an old airborne forces t shirt I used to wear " in the unl

Every year....darwin awards need more recognition! I love watching storm waves come in but do it from a safe distance lol. Used to live in Cornwall and we would get storms off the Atlantic which was amazing to watch.....from inside my car in the car park!

Looks like my lab is getting old, developed a nasty limp, booked in for an X-ray but I think it's arthritis. Had to reduce his exercise and on that no grainer he's put on 2 Kg in weight ha ha!

OK f**k it lol These are the questions I have always wanted to ask, I understand very basic infantry tactics, how fireteams work, the purpose of suppressing fire, find fix, flank, finish (american doctrine?) but I have always wondered can you see what you are shooting at or who is shooting at you? I've watched a lot of videos (yes it's not real life) and you can't see anything. Also what range is typical of an engagement? I assume somewhere from 200-300m? Stupid questions no doubt

Exactly, my missus was a teacher in a rough area, they wouldn't dare mess with her as she could drop the social services, police and any other number of bureaucratic b*****ds on their heads in 10 seconds lol Plus she is a total bitch Plenty of protection for 'government employees' already!

Recommendations For A Reasonably Priced Camera?
Nik_B replied to Nik_B's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
We've settled on getting one of these, it seems like a good balance especially for price and something easy to take out rather than a bag full of lenses etc Maybe one day we can upgrade but this looks like it will tick the boxes for us, we want to be able to take pics of the seals and birds here Thanks all for the advise.....the only problem now is that everywhere is out of stock LOL -
This is absolutely 100% spot on. They introduced laws like this at the airports years ago and guess what..... The miserable wankers love to use it whenever they can to get people who are frustrated in to trouble. A German mate of mine (Are all Germans highly strung and a bit mental?) was going home after 6+ weeks in the desert just before Christmas, they screwed his flight up and predictably he blew his stack....they were just waiting for the moment so they could press the button, cops arrive and he ends up in a cell for the night. No violence, just a shitty job that those pr*cks don't und

I wasn't saying getting shot at is addictive or glamorizing war, I mean adrenaline can be addictive to some people, racing drivers etc would probably say the same....so if you are someone who has been exposed to massive amounts of adrenaline and then you go back to normal life would that contribute to problems? I have no idea, it was just a thought. Most young men think war is something amazing but even if you haven't been in the army with age you realise it's not glamorous. I had an interesting chat with a guy I met on the hills here, he had a ctrippled arm. Turned out he'd been hit by an

I can well believe that, I bet the adrenaline rush of a first contact is insane, it wouldn't be surprising if it was very addictive in a strange way. I also wonder if some/many cases of PTSD is caused by the comedown of returning to 'boring' civilian life rather than just traumatic experiences....is it possible that exposure to massive adrenaline surges does something to people when taken out of that environment? I've worked with loads of ex military guys often paras, marines and especially French foreign legion, as someone who has never been in the military but very interested in history

We nipped down to Cemlyn Bay to see what was about, loads of Lapwings, a few turnstones as well which was nice to see. Was pretty windy and cold but the great storm of 2017 isn't living up to expectations
