i always make sure mine have dry mix at all times they also get there rabbit ,mince and chicken every other day and there raw or boiled egg and cod liver oil twice a week

Aye I,ve read they can co exist with budgies,never tried it though your spot on mate i used to keep mine with budgies and cockateails dident keep them with the smaller finches as they do and will destroy nests and bully the smaller finches
