  1. yeah but that defeats the object because you want it ringing when it comes out?? no point if it only rings before you enter it!
  2. thought i was simple ................... you are
  3. I'm assuming she was thinking it's a trick question....as in Cliff Richard isn't really called Cliff....that's what I'm hoping anyway!!! surely nobody is that thick?....apart from Dances obviously
  4. bells are good when you're ferreting a warren with lots of cover over it but the trouble is they get clogged up with mud as soon as it's been raining.
  5. that is quite a big difference when you see it like that!
  6. when I was switching mine from dried to meat they wouldn't touch meat at first, and then after a bit they'd eat it but only if I cut it into small pieces, and then after a bit they'd eat full chicken wings/legs etc. My jill still won't touch anything with its fur still on though unless it's cut open first. I think they're fussy because they can be, if they didn't have a choice they'd eat it. I don't believe the stories about them starving themselves to death tbh....sounds like a load of silliness that vets/commercial pet food manufacturers would make up (like that business about not fee

are you related to the big dog?
  10. whatever you get just make sure you don't get the 4oz ones, they should be banned IMO....I had some a few years back, you only had to breath on them and they'd be tangled to feck!
  11. You could probably get away with not using collars most of the time but you'd be leaving dead rabbits underground a lot, that would do my head in! The other big advantage of a locator is when the ferret hasn't reappeared for a while you have the peace of mind in knowing that you ferret hasn't come out of a hole on the other side of a wall/hedge etc. and gone wandering off, and you can check it's still moving about the warren rather than being stationary. My ferret comes out of the warren if I whistle but if it's still moving around underground the chances are it's still chasing a rabbit s

  13. I got some of the cheap ones last week....done three 3 hour sessions on same two batteries so they're OK as far as I'm concerned.
  14. it definitely sharpens them up though, don't you think? I'm stood there in amazement half the time when mine is full tilt though the cover, how she doesn't hit trees (touch wood!....no pun intended) is beyond me!
  15. Can't beat seeing them at full speed through woodland/scrubland etc. One of the main reasons my little lurcher suits me better than a bigger one, a big lurcher would be an accident waiting to happen in half the places I go ferreting! Will have to get my whippet out with your lurcher to show mine the ropes if that's ok Rob. yeah sure pal, mine still acts the clown a bit with other dogs so it'll do her good to get used to working alongside another dog aswell...will send you a pm.
