  1. is it f**k wits day on the forum today or something?
  2. no, but you can get another breed thats less active.
  3. i'll always have a dog whether hunting or not.
  4. If I picked 15 bunches of foxgloves, does that count as a fox? me and my mate were having a comp.....he picked quarter of a ton of dandelions and counted that as a lion so I have some catching up to do!
  5. It makes me laugh when someone puts a knobheaded post on and just because they get slated they start calling people armchair hunters/keyboard warriors etc. Why does slating you for not only lamping leverets, but then asking a stupid arsed question, make someone an armchair hunter?

  7. just go without dog a couple of times....not as good but at least you'll be out.
  8. how wierd...i suppose with that many they keep each other warm quite nicely?
  9. sounds like size is nothing to do with it then?
  10. sounds like size is nothing to do with it then?
  11. You not got any friends of relatives at home that could have them when you're not there? I work from home but in all honesty if I take mine out for an hour first thing she barely moves off her bed until the evening anyway so it wouldn't make any difference if I was there or not!
  12. Would people say that bigger lurchers/running dogs are more prone to injury than the smaller ones? due to more weight, more speed (in some cases), less agile, more momentum, further to dip down on the strike etc.? I would expect this to be the case but I was just wondering what peoples experiences of this is?
  13. at the end of the day its still not her property to give away, and believe me he did go daft at her. I'd be more inclined to kick his cousins arse to be honest..........who the f'ck gives someones dog to their ex bird!!!!!!! she probably did it out of spite!
  14. Shit!!! that's not cool! most people wouldn't need to make 5 claims in a year though would they? that is pushing it a bit for pet insurance! Anyone know what the difference is in premiums between pet insurance and working dog insurance?
  15. I know whos arses I'd be kicking...........and it wouldn't be the SSPCA!
  16. shavings for bedding? i have shaving on the floor of the hutch but in the nest box they need more than shaving in winter.
  17. No, she came close but we were tracking the hob and it bolted on the opposite side. Gave her a good run though, it went flying into another set of brambles but these ones are close to a road so I couldn't enter my hob into them...bugger! we'll get him next time though!
  18. you've still not said why they took it in the first place?
  19. quite cool isn't it, not often you get to see your ferret in hot pursuit! my hob is bolloxed now!
  20. I wasn't saying you need a dog (or ferret, or gun) to catch game, I was asking about what's appealing about trapping.....obviously it's effective for pest control, but I was wondering what other appeal it has. And now I have more of an idea.
  21. I'm just starting out my first lurcher but what has struck me already is just how versatile lurchers are! Mine will hunt up during the day and will put up and catches prey on her own. She'll also work on the lamp to a reasonable standard in that she'll walk to heel, follow the beam and return when the lamps off. And she'll concentrate to a decent standard when ferreting.....still a bit of work to do with positioning with ferreting and sometimes not returning immediately when lamping but it all seems completely natural. Before I got a lurcher I thought you either had a lamper, or a mooch
  22. melts my f****n head, that does same here! and we moan about foreigners not being able to speak our language! it doesn't even sound right!!
