  1. b*****d! it's proper leathing it down and I've already had the dog out.....love going out when it's lashing it down but too knackered now!

  2. just looked up that figure of four trap, never heard of it before. Lovin that, proper old school!
  3. OK nice one. Which are the trickiest to catch? foxes? I tried to catch a squirrel in a mink trap a couple of months ago cos it kept digging up my bulbs but gave up in the end cos I kept catching bloody hedgehogs!
  4. I'm not going to slag off what other people do, but I was just wondering what the appeal of trapping was? Obviously, like hunting and shooting it has its place for pest control etc. but with hunting with dogs you have the appeal of watching a dog you've put time and effort into getting fit and training goes full flight or working hard above or below ground to catch your quarry. With ferreting, again you have an animal you've got fit and ready and your working alongside it (and your dog) to catch rabbits. With guns, you need to get into place etc. to have a shot accurate enough to hit yo
  5. I use either hay, straw or shredded paper if I haven't got any hay or straw. When using hay they come out warm as toast even when it's proper freezing! I think you're right though, if the ferret has fleas they'll thrive in hay, but if they don't have them they won't be there to thrive. I change my hay once a week and never had any problem with fleas, to be honest I've never had a ferret with fleas, not sure why?? I once had hay in my kennel though and one of my cats kept sleeping in there when the dog wasn't there. The cat must have put fleas in there because one day all of a sudden it
  6. hay makes them sweat and holds the moisture, not good for them, utter bollocks!
  7. With any dog that fetches that kind of money you're going to get people buying a couple just to churn out a litter with no regards whatsoever for temprament, health etc. etc. One litter could buy you a reasonable car! Recipe for disaster. It's all good though, the only people that are going to buy these are chavs, and the only chavs that can afford these are the ones getting a shed load of benefits for having 15 kids and no job...........and lets face it, these are the people that need ripping to pieces anyway!! Bring them on, that's what I say!
  8. surely it's only caffinated tea that's a diuretic?
  9. feckin hell! I'm the same, I've heard people say that they take ducklings but I've never seen it and don't know anyone who has.....that pike must have only been a 6 or 7 pounder I reckon. Imagine what a 30 pounder could take! Brilliant footage though, right place at the right time and all that!
  10. I know this is an old thread but I gave this a go today. Attached a cat bell to my hobs collar and entered him into a large patch of brambles (approx 10m x 10m) that the dog had just chased a couple of rabbits into. I have to say, it worked as well as I hoped it would do! It was easy to follow the ferrets progress with the bell and he spent a good 5 minutes chasing them around the brambles. Admittedly it wasn't exactly the most effective way to actually flush the rabbits but it was a bloody good run for the hob and it was quite cool quietly moving around the outside of the brambles with th
  11. been up since 4am, lamping and then ferreting straight after.....flagging a bit now!

  12. Personally, if I kept dogs outside I'd splash out and get CCTV and an alarm. For the sake of a few hundred quid it'll give you the peace of mind and will hopefully stop them taking your dogs. I'm not over the top with security but I would be if my dog was outside. Like people have said, if they've already clocked the dogs they'll be back, even if you keep them inside for a month....each time they're in the area they'll keep looking and you'll never be able to relax! Theiving tw'ts!
  13. Why don't you just use hay? it's only 50p a bag from home bargains. I couldn't be arsed with all the washing etc.
  14. Kes...I'd forgotten all about that! great film!!

  16. i might start singing and dancing if they ever film me....I might get discovered when they put it on youtube!
  17. Just out of interest, what makes you think he was worked on foxes? doesn't look very marked....and aren't most working dogs OK with other dogs? Just a thought...might just be a very wound up terrier after being stuck in a shelter for months?
  18. Quality! I must admit, if I saw what I thought was a ghost, the last thing I'd be doing would be kicking the f'ckin thing!!!
  19. I've always had a hob and a jill apart from one occassion where I had two hobs. At first they were OK bu then after a bit they used to fight all the time, I could never keep them together or I'd have a dead ferret on my hands. Nothing to do with the size of the court. Don't know if it's the case with all hobs or what? I must admit with mine it was always just one of them that started it, so maybe I just had a bad one?
  20. .just edit the photos, open them up and click edit picture, click resize and take it down to 10 or 20%. You need it less than 200k.
  21. I'll give you a hand with designing the website etc. if you need it, no problem, I know feck all about border terriers though!
