  1. theyre still being made simon, just google isp spartan air rifles and youll find them. theyve a facebook page too, think ive 'like'd it so you can find that via my page there. incidentally, he does a stunning stutzen that starts at £2500 or thereabouts.... cheers, wurz
  2. been a while since ive been on here, but id like to add that ive just recieved an imp from tony and its an awesome little springer, probably the finest and smoothest action ive ever had the pleasure to own and hunt with. and as said above, tony is an absolute gent to deal with. theres a sandwell field sports discussion page on facebook too if anybodys interested, the links below... https://www.(!64.56:886/groups/813620358694089/ cheers, wurz
  3. I wouldn't pay any attention to a magazine review dean mate, it'll be the usual "oh you must own this, it's the best rifle ever etc" Not knocking the rifle, I'd just wait until someone who isn't paid to review it favourably does one
  4. Had one for the last five years on various pcp's and it's been all good, pretty much on a par with a hw mod.
  5. They taste great, somewhere between rabbit and duck flavour wise.best cooked in Chinese duck recipes or coat the back legs in crispy crumb and deep fried KFC stylee. They are a pig to skin if you leave them too cool down but if you can do them straight away it's a lot easier. Personally I gut them then cut the skin across the shoulder blades so you've a tshirt and trousers to remove, as it were. Just rip the bottom half off as there's no meat to speak of above the saddle.
  6. The lad that made si's mod is called Matt winser, you can find him on Facebook mate. Try via the VHTV page, he's a member there.
  7. I'm quite interested in one of these myself mate, especially since getting a LGV, which is quite frankly the nicest springer I've shot, especially when you consider try come like that out of the box. The reason the r8's cheap is because armex are keeping their profit margin down, so you should be getting a top pcp for the price of a much lesser one, although the proof will be in the shooting. Really looking forwards to some real world reviews, as opposed to the usual press gushings.
  8. Just watched the vid and I can only say a big 'hat off' to you Jamie, well done mate
  9. I've been doing HFT purely kneeling and standing for the last year cos of a knackered neck, I may not score as well as some but it's always a great crack with like minded folk and good friends. Except Davy, obviously...
  10. Get a spring, too hat and spring guide from Sandwell field sports mate, top gear that's made to fit the spring perfectly. No harm in giving the insides a polish from the sounds of it, and a new piston seal too. 80's are built like panzers so with a bit of TLC there's no reason why yours shouldn't be spot on.
  11. Nowt I can say that ain't been said to that already simon me ol' mate, good job your local bobbies got his head screwed on, and more importantly, well done for not chinning the neighbour lol
  12. Give the bottle a quater turn, then fire off a few shots, repeat until the gun sounds airless. You'll pop the seals if you just remove it without emptying the pressure in the gun first.
  13. I've been banging on about this for years, you never seem to read an honest gun review in the mags, each new rifle is wonderful and worthy of your purchase etc In my eyes, the magazines exist simply to ensure that the unwary spend as much as possible on kit they simply do not need at prices they can't afford...
  14. I love stutzen rifles, and that's a very nice example mate
  15. I've got a Sandwell field sports stubby on my LGV, seems to work a treat so far, as most folk who've heard it can't believe it's a springer..
  16. Shouldn't have rang it so often then should ya... Quasimodo lol
  17. I'll see you there then mate. If you fancy it we could catch the last light up one of my permissions and belt a few bunnies, or maybe do the woods course?
  18. And that's not a war face, it's your 'O' face... Your poor mrs....
  19. 'Twas good to see you two lads, the banter flowed thick and furiously fast and there was some fine shooting from all. You doing the 3 positional on Sunday Aaron mate?
  20. If you're thinking about finance, I'd hold out for a while cos you can guarantee someone lol be selling a 97kt for a much better price second hand, and it'll already be bedded in so it won't be quite so twangy as a new one. Definitely one of the best synthetic stocked rifles out there, it's the rifle of world champions so that should tell you everything. Don't see many winners using lightning's!!! I'm currently trying out a synthetic walther LGV break barrel and so far it's brilliant, but it's way too early for me to recommend it yet, particularly as they had teething troubles when they
  21. You'll pick up a decent but old hw80 or 77 for less than £200 mate, and you'll have either the best break barrel or under lever springer ever made for your money. You're gonna have to part with a bit more of your money for a decent scope but you'll have a self contained quality hunting rig that'll last you for years.
  22. There is a meet planned in august mate, and I think there's some spaces left, see the VHTV Facebook group page for details. Cheers, wurz
  23. Only cos you've lifetime membership to the blue oyster bar up your way Daz lol
