I never get the name right, but, it's a professional guide course (countryside & marine) with a hill walking specialisation. Basically, whne we're finished we'll have the skills not only to guide a group on a hill or other walk, but also to give a decent spiel on the history of the area, plants & animals, geology and a few other things. It's properly accredited too, so it's not a passing the time type course. Should be done and dusted some time in October!

Bunny hugger Farming is getting a bit of a kicking in this area with the withdrawl of the REPS scheme. Since I don't ever want to leave this area I had to think about something else to be doing. Tourism is pretty big here so why not cash in on that as well I'll stick up more photos Tally, hopefully next weekend will bless us with the same kind weather, off on a walking festival! Which reminds me I've to email and book a place, going to try and find a decent walk over a proper mountain this time. Hope they have an ambulance ready for me at the end

Had a similar chat with a friend of a friend. He goes out, and still persists doing so, and calls foxes in and only brings the lamp! Makes them wise to the lamp and call. -
>Better< But do price around, rush in and you'll get gouged. Use mine farming and shooting so they get a fair amount of use.

I have you know, it's even "breathable". Though, to herselfs disgust, and my delight it's green (and black) Might bring the shottie next weekend, looked like good ground for rising a fox *BANG* whatdafcukwasthatanyoneknowlike? No extendable walking stick thank God, I don't see the point of them at the minute, never know I may get further brainwashed into getting one yet. You're supposed to use two or none ya know

No worries, was just having a laugh I don't know how he thought they'd have 10k on the bloody plane. I remember when I flew to London with them a few years ago (think it was to London anyhow), Captain came on over the intercom asking passengers for spare change for the beverages trolley All my preflight notions about Ryanair came true in that one moment

I'm sticking my neck out and guessing geography ain't your strong point Most expensive, least tasty meal he'll ever have, can think of way better ways to waste 10k !

I never thought it would come to this... Today was the first day of my course, which will hopefully see me coming out the other end as a professional guide. The course has a hill walking speciality but also features flora & fauna, geology, history & heritage, languages, mountain skills and a hell of a lot more. I managed to miss the information day so didn't exactly know what I'd be facing today. Thankfully I'd most of the proper gear bought so I wouldn't freeze my arse off out on the hill. I was interested especially in how my new clothes would perform as I was concerned about

Perhaps I should have spent more time structuring the OP. I couldn't give a fig that Monsanto or GM is involved. That was never my point. That clip, I believe is an excellent bit of PR for American Farmers, showing them in a positive light in their own country. It shows what could be done over here, with a positive attitude. How the real face of farming (no complaints, not looking for money) can be put forth, and the benefits of farming can be shown to all. From producing high quality food to providing jobs and contributing to the economy. Or, let people continue to believe mea

I heard a song played on the radio today. Liam Neesons voice features over music played by The Chieftans. It's a song about an Irish Battalion fighting for Mexico in the Mexican American war. There is a version on YouTube, but it's videoed at a concert and, well, it's rubbish quality. Anyone know of another source online to listen to it? Cheers, John Think it might actually be called "March to Battle" actually. Lyrics below; We are the San Patricios, a brave and gallant band There'll be no white flag flying within this green command We are the San Patricios, we have bu

I was on the British Farming Forum earlier, saw this below posted. I'm seriously impressed with that level of PR, apparently this is a Prime Time TV advert in the States. Reckon it puts this side of the pond to shame really. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7A4oAyKOGHg

Yeah the tap is off and I've removed the pipe. Don't think we have motor factors over here? Disregard the above bit, I am trying to become professionally thick tonight it seems I can't remember Matty, but I'll check it out, belongs to the brother in law.

Hi folks, The hose/pipe coming out of the petrol tank and going into the "thingywotsit" has gone and cracked on me. Am without generator now and got some things need doing. Any ideas where I'd get a replacement hose/pipe, was bought in Aldi/Lidl/. ATB, John

No probs Am glad ya enjoyed it. It was great seeing one of these birds up close and personal after seeing them in action for so long around the area.

I also use mine all year around, catching rates will drop off int he Winter but you'll still get a few. Make sure the bird is well sheltered, has plenty of space and a couple of perches, fed regularly with fresh water always available.

Labour's reply on the repeal the hunting ban petition
JohnGalway replied to mushroom's topic in General Talk
Would it be an idea, instead of trying to repeal the entire law to start chipping away at different aspects. For example, I don't think it's currently legal to protect commercial fowl, or lambs, from fox predation using hounds right? So possibly try that angle, maybe get a farming organisation onside to help with that. (Barn burning shite talk would have to see the bin, I know that would be terribly hard for some ). The antis would like to see an end to all hunting, trapping, fieldsports etc. But they know they can't knock it all in one go so they persistantly chip away until they knock
