  1. Has the option to plant YouTube clips into posts been removed, or is it just hiding on me?
  2. Cheers Fragle 1.91 download and 1.13 upload, plenty fast for what I do online
  3. Nice Got the upgrade installed just now, was wondering how I'd test the speed so went to YouTube and watched . On my last connection I'd have to let the red bar load for a while before I'd play the song. Now, red bar must be powered by Ferrari
  4. The Sthil saw was my first thought really. Has anyone experience in using them on something as hard as granite, I guess what I'm asking is would the blades stand up to the punishment for long or would I be replacing them every five minutes. Kango is another idea. I know a guy who, shall we say, "borrowed" a rather large generator and hammer off a job once upon a time. I must ask him if it's still about. Fezz, no, I looked up the price of the molded baths and nearly lost my life. Dad's made baths from concrete, plastering the insides to finish, that have worked well. I can improve on th
  5. I could yeah, but then I would need to also build another collecting/handling pen as well as the bath and straining pen. More expense, and I already have two collecting/handling pens, the other one though is not in a good site for the job. I'll think of something I use my dads facilities at the moment, it would be handy to have my own and that would cut out an extra few runs with the trailer. I like to add a few things to the farm each year if I can.
  6. I think the blasting is out, got an old shed nearby and I don't think it'd hold up too well to be honest I could maybe construct the bath and straining pen on the other side of the collecting/handling pen, but that has it's own problems. Guess I'll have to do a bit more thinking Thanks for the help Steve
  7. Dipping bath for sheep, I suspected it'd be a waste of time but no harm done asking. There's no depth where the existing collecting/handling pen is. Also I'll need to build a straining pen which is above the level of the dipping bath so that the dip which drips off the sheep runs back into the filter and into the bath. Raising the ground would look shite IMO where it is due to existing pen and shed, might have to do it in the end. Bloody rock.
  8. How expensive would it be to cut/quarry a hole in granite 8 foot long, 2 foot wide and about four foot deep? Or is it completely impractical?
  9. I was thinking not Cajunrules lol, thank you for the suggestion all the same MMT, I'll check out FW, I hadn't thought of that, thanks
  10. Hi folks, I'm on both the farming section on boards.ie and the British Farming Forum. Just wondering are there other decent forums around that would have a sheep section? ATB, John
  11. Do you do car servicing too, mines gone a bit worse for wear I was missing the "Guests" topics... where's the sarcasm smiley then.... Can't tell if things are better or not, will do tomorrow though
  12. None local to me because of snow, the cold may have knocked off the odd weak/oldie out on the bogs mind you. Even on the Twelve Bens the snow wasn't as bad as I've seen it other times, and I've not seen much snow. I brought a lad out lamping last year, we headed up a valley I got to a bit. Near the top I remarked that there were lots of rabbits a bit farther on, the look I got "And what're they livin' on, rocks?" Herdwick, lovely photos there, what I wouldn't give to roll a few of those acres out around here
  13. Porn? ... What is this porn you speak of? I tell ya, when I was on dial-up I used to dread clicking on a photo heavy thread, wouldn't be fully loaded by the middle of next week! And video, video?? Sure, next Christmas! He'll be around in the morning to put up the new receiver Still got the dodgy connection at the minute. Getting a wireless thingy as well so no more leads
  14. Thanks lads, I am happy about it. The pessimist in me expects, when dealing with companies, that they'll put their price up and their service will worsen! The above situation was a very pleasant surprise being the exact opposite I get the broadband from a small enough company as well, it's nice to have value placed upon my business and not have to deal with big corporations to whom you're just a cash cow!
  15. Hi folks, I've been struggling with a dodgy broadband connection for the past while. I rang the company Saturday afternoon, and, in fairness to them they had an engineer to my door Monday Afternoon. I know the guy for yonks anyway, he'd injured himself earlier on in the day at something else so was coming around to see what the trouble was. I was heading out the door so we just had a quick chat. Because of where I live, I don't get broadband in a very typical way. It comes via radio signal as the big companies don't give a flying fcuk about people out in the sticks, not enough money to be
  16. Jeez Bob, I don't fancy yours much! Excellent post, very witty
  17. Interesting spread of farm types Unfortunately the land here isn't good enough to grow crops or do dairy, pity as the options would be great! Was over on a farming forum last night and felt slightly jealous when reading about lads growing their own feed
  18. Hi Trapperman, Yeah, we dip the sheep and also use pour on's. It does a good enough job. Then there are any dirty ones, can happen when the ewes are let from the pre lambing area into the kept grass for better milk production, they just get soft behind. Easy enough job to shear around the tail then. I've mostly blackface, and I'll have a few cheviot blackface cross this year too. We'd a really humid wet summer last year and there was a high incidence of fly strike despite controls, even up in the hills where you wouldn't normally expect it. As I said, it's not really a control ques
  19. The ones which lay maggots in sheep. Is there a way of trapping/catching/killing/reducing their numbers? OK, I'll give ye five minutes for the laughing to die off. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... Done? OK I know it's a drop in the ocean, I do, really, I've not gone bonkers. (Well, not any more bonkers). Why? Along the length of my farm is a wood with a stream at the bottom. It's a Mecca for the little b*****ds. Any animal that has even the slightest chance of attracting them, will, for 100% certain, in large numbers. Yes, I know, prevention is better than cure, an
  20. No lambs here, mine won't arrive until the end of March. Last Spring when March came it was like a tap got turned on concerning foxes, they just seemed to crawl out of every bush and from behind every wall. The land here is quite poor so most lambing would occur in March/April.
