  1. Damn right Am spoilt in this area, can go pretty much where I please because of it.
  2. Hi folks, I've a small farm and a few sheep here in Ireland. Lambs due the end of March, sorted out the thin/old ones to keep home and feed up, the rest went to the hill. They went late this year because of the cold weather. Next big job is getting ready for lambing, all fun and games I was just wondering how many farmers we got on here, and what kind of farming ye do ATB, John
  3. Pair of thinner socks then one or two pairs of WOOL socks, depending on space in the boot. If your feet get wet from sweating they'll be cold, might sound silly but some roll on antipersperant might help with that. Also, if the fit in the welly is too tight your feet will also get cold from poor circulation.
  4. I think it's opticswarehouse that do a dimmer unit for around £10 less than Debens, or at least they did. The only trouble is that their unit is only rated to 50W bulbs.
  5. Wellies for me now. I like boots an awful lot, but got sick of shelling out when I'd kill a pair. Cheapies are no good, either uncomfortable or not waterproof and the real good ones are just ridiculous money. I stick to my Muck Boot wellies now. Though I may be on the look out for boots for summer time. Most of the year I'm traipsing through bog after either sheep or foxes, can't beat wellies to keep you dry through that.
  6. The Registry Helper thing that was advertisied on here is Malware, steer clear. It identifies something on your computer which is harmless, as a serious threat, and the solution? Go buy something off them.
  7. Buy a really really large calibre, then put a trail of corn down the barrel
  8. Hi deerstalker32, It's a varmint barrel so yep it's heavy
  9. My crystal ball tells me I'll be wandering into Dunnes Stores in the near future and picking up an El Cheapo seat that I saw a couple of weeks ago.
  10. Stunning rifle, way too nice for me, can I take that custom Remington off your hands please
  11. Thanks guys! Definitely the deer Ray Might have to put him on ice for this season yet, I'm not sure, if I can get down I'll let you know. When does the season close again I'm looking forward to stalking, never done it as you know, half terrified I'll like it, more money Snap, I'm gonna put that down to cabin fever and forgive ya, lol
  12. Headed out earlier to kill an hour and test how my lamp was working. Even in the car I wasn't full sure where I should go to. Decided to go up the hill and try a stand above the local wood. After parking up, I climbed part way up the hill to a nice look put spot. There was a small moon out but it was behind the hill, the wind was perfect for me. I hadn't been there all but five minutes when I spied a pair of foxy eyes sauntering up the field above the wood. I gave the rabbit squeal a go and my fox started bouncing nicely towards me until she reached the fence. Coming through the fence and
  13. Another here for the all cats bad bandwagon. They didn't have a lot of value on the £300 cat. Would they sue the driver of a car if it got run down I wonder.
  14. Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed
  15. Sounds like a good read OTC, how is it coming along?
  16. Chuck Norris has started mating with rabbits
  17. As Snap says, put a decent can on the end of either rifle and it'll tame both of them. I've heard moderated .223's and a moderated .243, both a hell of a lot quieter and very usable.
  18. I agree with it being a very big but OTC I've emailed a couple of companies again regarding some details, I'm away from home at the minute and can't remember email password I'm still trying to suss out other issues I guess. Saying that, being out on the farm and being out at night after fox, I haven't actually seen a badger or evidence of one in a really long time. Strange as there used to be a few around. I am more used to seeing 4 or 5 a week whether lamping or driving at night, and seeing bits of digging out on the land. Still doesn't remove the issue at hand, just something I'd
  19. Apart from the badger issue, and needing to get the fox to approach it from the front, what other issues are there Ian? I'll probably end up trying one, at some stage. Despite Glens best advice I'm not good at snaring, save for one spot but a blind man with no arms could set there.
  20. Knew that cheating craic wasn't the be all and end all What's the tally now btw? No harm in letting someone who knows what they're doing at the job I spose Trail camera would be handy near that bait tree, give ye times and what's calling. Won't get out again until Wednesday night at the earliest, mind you I've splicing, dicing and soldering to do to get my lamp back in action.
  21. Bumpity bump, in case anyone has anything else to add
  22. Saturday 16th January There isn't an awful lot to this story, the reason why will become apparent pretty quickly. My plan tonight was to head out on my own, a bit of peace and quiet (broken by extremely loud noises granted) does a body no harm, and nab a fox quick. I was thinking of heading to a different spot afterwards to try out my new EagleTac torch properly with the shotgun. I pulled up at the farm gate and began walking to one of my preferred stands for calling. I thought to myself if I don't see a fox quickly tonight it's a bad omen. Well, I wasn't at my stand any longer than t
  23. I would take it. He's 15 and by how you explained it he should be OK with the fact that he done wrong in thinking he knew it all. I can see how you'd feel guilty about it, but it'll stand to him in the end. Besides, you're gonna spend it keeping him anyway
