  3. I like the look of that wee spade bud how much did that cost ye and where from ?
  4. I think sometimes bringing in a new pup into your kennells and then when it matures and has maybe has a season or two under its belt at bushing, feretting and lamping ect can sometimes dictate where your having most fun at the different pursuits with our dogs........for example after a couple of seasons it might excell at lamping rather than mouching and hunting-up during the day,so you will find with this dog you will prob look forward more to the nights on the lamp knowing its going to perform better and put more in the bag,i say this because if my dogs are enjoying their work and doing well
  5. Actually Im just back in the there after giving the young dog a few runs at easy bunnies to bring him on.........but back to your question,i do it because i FECKING LOVE IT

    text talk

:clapping: :clapping: MOLL. Not want to piss on your bonfire big fella but im sure it is mandirin (chinese) which is the foremost spoken language in the world today..........but i see the point about text talking, can be fecking annoying for us oldies
  7. My mate gave me one exactly the same frank as he got a deal of buy one get one free from a hardware catalogue,he does landscaping and fences ect and say's their handy wee spades being a lot stonger than they look and they should do you for the ferreting.............i havn't tried it yet,so i will reserve my jugement untill i give it a go but there a handy wee size if you are out on your own and weigh next to nothing
  8. The work of satin if you ask me,feckin hate the stuff, ive seen some bad tears, rips and punctures ect over the years with the stuff but what really gets on my tits is the old rusty stuff left discarded when a fence is renewed usually in long grass and the like.......fecking deadly ,especially if the dog goes into shock after a nasty injury with it but what can you do ? its the landowners right to use what he wants on his fences im afraid,it part and parcel of the game............allways better to know your ground and you will have less chance of any drama
  9. I was just thinking the same thing there you do have a knack with that camera for they action shots molly well done lass, nice pics

  12. Some good advice here mate,as im just starting another young dog on the lamp at present heres another bit for you,if you know some ground where the rabbits run to dry-stone walls, take it here as this gives them a good chance of early catches without getting them too frustrated as some young dogs can take a while for the penny to drop and sometimes can miss plenty at first. You should find them bunnies will either run up and down the wall or bounce straight off them into your pups mouth giving it plenty of confidence for the future Two of my favorite places to start pups on the lamp is on
  13. I don't do much lamping single handed anymore,if i'm honest it give's me the heebie jeebie's.I start to hear and see stuff that ain't there.I was lamping over a local golf course one night on my own,and i thought some fecker was running towards me.I threw the lamp down, and grabbed my stick ready to cosh the f****r.It was the flag on the 7th green blowing in the wind. Another time me and my brother were out with the dog's,we'd had some a*******s break into the car a couple of weeks before,so i dropped him at the entrance road, and took the car down the drive to the farmhouse.I started walking b

  15. Im with ditch on this awell,as i work for my brother on the roofs and if we have to work anywhere near a wasps nest the tools go sraight down and the customer is told that he/she has a nest and it has to be delt with by a pest controler or the local authorities before we carry-on starting or finishing the job Some hint or even ask "since you are up there with a ladder can you not maybe knock it down or give it a spray with something" he tells them politley "no he would rather leave it to someone who knows what there doing" but afterwards he usually turns to me and say's "the fecking chee

  20. Its a hard one to answer as i have been lucky and blessed to have spent all my life amoung a abundance of wildlife in my area's countryside, where we have some diverse habitat's from pine forests to high moorland, giving me the oppotunity to have seen a lot of different wildlife.............but now that i think about it,i would have to say the red squirrell, the reason is because i grew up seeing them nearly every day,as common as some people seeing crows but that was up to the decline of them as the grey's moved in and took a foothold. Seen my first grey in my area less than ten years ago an
  21. Why the lead ? ive used the bike in the past to get em fit after a injury or the start of the season but ive never used a leash.......just stick to the quite country lanes and the like as i think the dog on the lead being fixed onto the bike would be disaster waiting to happen................could be painfull towards the dog and the owner
  22. Good on ya sir but do you see were i was coming from with this post ?
  23. Have to agree with alimac here, some good advice given by doxhope
  24. Ive seen your dog on here before mike and ive always liked the look of it,she looks a handy type thats for sure but how long you been running her as the proof of the pudding with good feet is how they stand up season after season as your dogs only as good as the feet they run on.
