    not all tics carry borrilia(bacteria causing borreeliose) but some do,area concentrated,if its in your area you can get a vaccination i believe. borrilia build up in your blood and can be counted on tests(they thought i had it when i suddenly got joint pain all over the place,turned out to be arthritis). once you have it it can take avery long time to get rid of(if at all). i think the term lymes disease is a collective for both but i'm not sure???? waidmann

    the germans have trouble with the coypu and bisam rats both in crop and waterways bud(messing up the banks of canals,dykes etc). they have alot more water in holland. where are you,i used to live near gronau. waidmann

    fact is though bud it IS their land and they can allow what they want/or not. i agree with the above posts that say the besy way is to get in the door by ratting,shooting rabbit/crow/pigeon etc(most of which you can take the dog with you and prove him to the farmer/keeper) once they see the dog is stock broken and his obiedience is top they will allow him on the land lamping etc(i know i would!!). waidmann

    have a look around the firearms dealers near you and see what they have in your weight class. there are also calibers like .410 and 28 gauge which are even lighter in the gun(recoil and overall weight). good luck waidmann

    we use the .17hmr for foxes at 100m or so and it drops them reliably untill now. if the .17 is not suitable for fox then why is it passed for it in west mercia? i know of foxes shot with .22lr(subs)at 60-70 meters which have dropped on the spot(and a few which have run on to be found later,dead).i would have no problems taking a sitting fox on at 100m with 40gr(supersonic) ammo. the question was "has anybody had the .17hmr passed for fox" my answear is yes, and is he doesn't want to pass your rifle(for opportunistic fox) then he should let you have another more suitable caliber. waid

    the nutria is also called a "swamp beaver" (myocastor coypus) and they can weigh up to 8 kilo!! they have them in germany too,they cause alot of damage

    if that were the case then we may not have a ban in place mate, "i'm allright jack" mentality will kill our sport for the upcoming/young sportsmen. do what you do and be proud of the fact that you enjoy,care for and use the natural resources that are there in whatever capacity you choose(gun,dog,rod,hawk) and balls to those who have their noses in the air or "get one on them". waidmann

    those things can go in water can't they? like the banana bunch(remember those ) a splendid bit of kit for getting around in,lamping and as you say fetching heavy stuff(or even light stuff,why carry it when you can drive it??) from the moors. with that much traction/weight dispertion you will hardly leave a trail on farm land or moor. asolutly splendid bit of kit and i'm so jealous that i don't have one waidmann

    how old is the bitch bud? has she realised that a bang from the gun needs attention from her?( i.e. that she gets to rag something ) were you shooting in a depression( ground rising on both sides.woods etc deflect the sound back and some dogs don't like it when young). i would get her out mooching and shoot a couple of rabbits,pigeons,crows,squirrels(mine love squizzers).only shooting when the dog is bushing/busy. if she shys from the gun then take it into the living room,feed her next to it etc(de sensitization). whatever you do don't take her to a clay ground,that will either m

    i and a lot of fieldsportsmen shoot,fish,and keep lurchers. the snobbery is dumb(as it mostly is). there is no finer sight than a lurcher going full pelt behind a rabbit if the man says he blanked you "because the other guns don't like lurchers" then he is a shallow dimwit with whom i would have nothing to do with,let alone a drink :sick: i find the "best" people to be around are people who keep dogs,the only ones with more sense are the ones who work their dogs properly you can try and educate one of them if you feel the need,i would rather not and leave them to their shootin

    i'm not sure about over here but in germany you have such contracts(over a minimum of nine years ) which entitles you to the "right" to hunt,as with most things in law it also has responsibilities. for example if you have sole rabbiting then you MAY be responsible for damage caused by them,be sure to include that you are not as long as the contract is written properly you will both get a good deal,doyou have any freinds who work in law? a notar will cost a few quid but may be worth the money. waidmann

    in west mercia its allowed for fox. if the need is there why not speak to the firearms officer about "opportunistic foxes" as they are causing a problem. its either pass the caliber for the job or allow you another rifle of suitable caliber for fox. let us know how it goes, waidmann

    May I recommend a cat carrier. fantastic can yo get one with alonger screw? you could hang that over the barby too.

    they are banned in germany too with the exemption of police dog handlers and people who have a hunting licence. anybody else who wants one has to do a course. the newer ones are very humane and you are right they are a good training aid for dogs of all breeds. if you want one then buy it soon waidmann

    only sent the one dog to retreve it then let the other 2 off to help retreve the fox does look heavy or one dog to retrieve if they all had fun then its sound.they can take some catching even when they are wounded can't they waidmann

    material for the tubes/runs( pipes of concrete,plastic or slabs,bricks,breeze blocks,chimney blocks the ones with two draws are also very good) material for the kettle/hall also slabs for the roof. if laying open bottomed i would put wire mesh on the floor(stops them digging further,also rabbits etc won't fill the runs in). a good spade and some ready dry mix cement(seal the gaps and the mice won't cause as much trouble). if you need a drawing i'll try to get a few different systems to show you,some take more work. waidmann

    no body can say they have the perfect method and breeding" that wil not fail". good breeding is the key and sensible entering will maximise the potential in the dog irrespective of breed or type. waidmann

    as chicks they are mostly insectiverous,as poults/adults alsmost herbivore taking anything from grass to seeds of any plant they find. if they ate virgins they would starve around here and the kids are born at about 16 too waidmann

    the best excercise for mine is scrapping with the dogs,they love each other! as soon as the ferretsare in the house the dogs are going mad,if the dogs are asleep the ferrets run to them and jump all over them untill they play with them give them a half hour and thats that,dogs and ferrets are happy,socialised and most inportantly TIRED. they don't bother when ferreting as rabbits are very high on the order of fun for both waidmann
