It's hard in threads not to sound smug or accusing........personally I was lucky that my job allowed my Mrs to come to work and bring the babies. Also, I also notice that these days there are loads of people who work because they have to but they also put in a massive effort with the kids, they are literally on the go 7 days/nights a week.......these people tend to have great kids by and large. It's the ones that would rather have the kid minded just so they can have "a career" I can never get my head round. Each to their own, the bottom line is.....their kids, their business!

I completely agree with that and in fact I have seen it proven time and time again when I was a school governor. As you say, it's no parents fault most of the time as life is so expensive for people because of the greed of the state that they have to both work.......it's an ideal thing for the state, double the tax My wife has been with the kids since the day they were born, when my worked in the shop or the warehouse office she just brought them with her. Bringing them up is a full time job on its own.

I have had all the ditches done mate, it's a peaty soil (west of ireland) and I think it's the rush now helping to hold water. It dryed back pretty well in the spring summer. The place was a long time left empty and any man and his dog was grazing his cows on there.....the ground was poached to f**k when I got here. It's been a big task to get it this far, all fenced, ditches cleaned all round. I broadcast a load of grass seed after the ditches were cleared on the bare ground left by the machine tracks, it's taken very well in most places. PH is around 6.5 so I don't think it needs

Last night was good, some would say that old girl was a fruit cake but I get where she is coming from, I really do. Fair play, 61 and doing all that. It helps if you already own 175 acres obviously but fair play to her. Next weeks about the shepherdess looks really good.

Holy f**k, that must have took some bottle to write that. I don't really have the words to not sound flippant but it sounds like he has just gone f***ing bananas.....there's nothing you can do about that and nothing you could have done IMHO All I can say is that I hope it all works out in the end for all of you.

I thought spray the field off totally then a plough may help rip out the rush root system altogether, then seed with a white clover/grass mixture. I'd be looking to get a fairly dense clover sward to really choke out the rush.....what do you reckon lads ?

Thanks mate, that's brilliant if you. I had the rushes licked and they are dieing back just nice. I sprayed off one field myself and got rid of 75% of them myself. I am going to experiment with a re-seed on one field although some of the old farmers have advised against ploughing as they reckon it can make the rush worse?? I may experiment with a wheat crop then grass after that to choke out the rush? Anyway, that's brilliant advice, thanks a bunch mate

I was having this conversation with a lad I know last year, he suffers with depression and has in the past attempted suicide. He is a really nice lad and you can have a sensible chat with him, he was basically saying "nobody knows what it's like blah blah blah" and I said I just thought suicide was selfish in the extreme. It don't matter if you have no family but it certainly does matter if you do. See, in my eyes, with suicide you have a choice and it's quick.......the people you leave behind don't have a choice and it's a lifetime of pain.....and I mean a lifetime. There won't be a

If she knows you suffer with depression and find enjoyment and an outlet in the countryside then she is just being a dick !! There has been a suicide thread running on here this morning, anything that is getting you out and smiling is a very, very good thing indeed. Tell her to f***ing behave herself and just crack on and be happy......she will get over it.

Two bags of milk replacer 110 euro plus around 170kg meal based on killing in Sept. You'd be better off rear two or maybe a calf and a kid goat for company.Have you grass? I do have grass mate but it's only a small 3ha concern, I am running 10 ewes on there at the moment. There's a chunk of rush to deal with although I have it thinned out a lot even in the last few months, it was left for a long few years and the fields not looked after.

Maybe being gay is a population control method alot of religious people are against gays but my way of looking at it and I a. Religious is that if God hated gay people surely he would also hate people born with learning difaculites or anyone different I'm sure Francie can clear it up maybe God isn't against gay people but only gay marriage I'm not sure i love God and I'm sure God loves everyone know matter who or what they are Do your homework sunshine, God and religion don't "hate" anybody including gay people. I was just having a browse last night and I reckoned it would stand in around €700-€900 at 20 weeks and should yield about 150-200 kg of veal That's all back of a fag packet calculations but someone may be able to tell me if I am way off the mark
