    After this thread I worked out how much my heating and hot water has cost me, so from last September when I brought home my turf and I have enough left to last until at least April it will have cost me £300 sterling.........happy with that

    I suppose it depends on what type of work you do, live anywhere in Europe and you can just fly home for the weekend. For lads who can do any type of price work, you go, you knock your bollocks out day and night until it's done and then you feck off home until the next job comes along.......if you want to do it.

    And we think we have it bad over here, it's not our problem but it makes you think. I think in many ways we are the ones worse off. If there was a country I could go and work in for say 5 years, and make enough to buy a house back home and then live mortgage free for the rest of my life, then I would be bloody happy. Take rent or mortgage out the equation and you can live very comfortably on a basic wage. Unfortunately no such place exists.     A farmers 2 lads local caught one in the barn robbing, the 2 lads were big strapping Gaelic players.......they beat the living shit out of him, the dad called the guard and when the guard got there the knacker starts giving out about the youngs lads beating him......so they beat him again and the guard turned his back. Guard told them to throw him out on the lane and he would go down to where the knacker stayed the next day........"don't worry boys, you won't have no more trouble from them" And they didn't ! Now that's common sense police work !

    Exactly, and we think our government is shit. Apparently growth is looking good in Poland but the people are certainly not seeing it. Something wrong when skilled people over there can earn more money over here in a beetroot factory. I agree mate but I also think there are twos ways of looking at it.........imho in the UK the whole system is set up to keep everybody in debt to the government (via tax) and the people that sponsor them (via bills to mortgage companies, energy companies and the myriad other things a man has to pay)..........that don't leave a whole lot of change out of a blokes

    I've been reading a lot in the European media, and it seems much more distorted than usual. I understand the concerns, we all have them, but the opposition blame fake news for his election and then continue to publish heavily loaded articles as a rebuttal. Again as much I as don't particularly care for him, he deserves to rise and fall on what he's done not what news agencies say he's done.     Most of that is no surprise to me mate, obviously those of us who don't live in the states don't know the day to day on the ground stuff like you do, but by and large that's all pretty much how I figured it. I have heard the word "protectionism" thrown about a fair bit but I just think that you could call an inward looking country a country that is minding its own business.......and we could do with more of that imho
