Well, they say every day is a school day and I always believed there was no literal translation from the German but it seems there is…..fantastic, love little bits of useless knowledge like this so thank you.
-
In retrospect, this was probably the last game I was ever at where I felt really connected to “top flight” football.
-
It just felt wrong when they made it all seater mate, obviously none of us could see into the future but I know personally I was “f**k this” when they made it all seater and I know for a fact I wasn’t alone…..now it all makes sense, maybe 15/20 year back I’m sure more then a few went “Ahh, now I get it” They didn’t want the ugly face of youth at grotty old grounds, the hooligan element and all that….so they battered it. Im sure then at some point some clever bloke looked at serie A with all the best names in the world, it’s sponsorships, it’s newspapers devoted just to football, it’

Good post that, when you think Inter Miami are valued at a billion quid in a 21,000 seat stadium then you can indeed see how the model may change.
-
Do you not think it’s been that way for years though ?……imho the premier league is like having a crush, you love things that don’t really love you. Its the American sport model and it’s been continuously moving in that direction for decades. If 70 thousand Man U fans or whatever think they matter more to the club than a gazillion chinkys then I reckon they best think again. It’s all about the money mate and if you follow a premier league club then you have to accept that’s what they have to follow and indeed will follow. You just have to listen to old boys at non leagu

Wow, some hardy blokes to do that job. It gives a Londoner like me some understanding of the passion behind the strikes and what it must have meant to a breed of British men who did that job. Those men and their communities should never have been wiped out, it’s a shame I didn’t have this understanding in my youth, it was a time that a lot of the nation read The Sun and believed it……how naive we were

Bloody hell, fair play to you lads…..not in a million years could I have done that. It looks lethal and brutal and backbreaking all in equal measure, don’t know how far underground you were but lads must have been mentally like steel……frighten the life out of me that would.

Some f***ing lemon shot a white tailed eagle down the road to me last month ! Divs, things fitted with a tracker and everything !

I think writing played a massive part as well mate, pre Roman we never wrote anything…..it was all passed on and I can only assume that means language as well. Maybe that is where local dialects come from ?…..because a bloke in Devon’s word for Tree may have been completely different to a bloke in Northumberland ? Who knows ? I love all that stuff anyway Once we started writing stuff down then space must have been created for common language.
-
Going to sound a bit childish this but apparently keeping your mens bits doing their job is beneficial for the prostrate. Dont know how true it is but it’s good fun doing it anyway !…….unless your my old woman of course in which case I’m sure it’s a pure f***ing nuisance ! Lol

I think the English language is brilliant, it’s like a map of our history. So many words derived from German, French, Danish/Norse and Latin. German I find very similar but common words can be found right across Europe…..when you know how this pre dates actual country’s as we understand them today it just adds to the magic imho. Gaelic I just have no idea but I’m sure people could point out Gaelic words or their derivatives to me that we use today. Strange but I can’t listen to Irish radio speaking English but I listen to the Gaelic speaking station, don’t understand a

I’ve never said any different mate, all I have ever said is that I think his style of football is shite and that I don’t know why everyone raves about a bloke who has achieved 1 thing in 25 year playing shite football….it’s just what I think. Im sure he will be inundated with offers from other clubs.
-
Well, I’ve said what I have to say and there is no point going round the houses. All academic now because the bloke is history and there’s a new bloke to look at…..see how he sets up but that conversation is a season and a couple of transfer windows away. Im not particularly excited but I’m not down in the dumps either, anything better than ordinary will be a bonus.
-
I watched that game, and yes you looked dead and out of it…..I wouldn’t say you got battered but you looked like you had run out of ideas…..but here’s a thing, that team didn’t know when it was beaten such was the strength of the mentality driving them. I also watched the semi final when Keane got the card which meant he wouldn’t play that final, possibly the finest captains performance world football has ever seen…..Moyes will never belong in company like that, not even close.
-
You can’t accuse the players that played under Ferguson of not being professional mate, I can’t have that……they played under one of the great no bullshit disciplinarians of the game at a club who’s culture was totally and utterly professional under that leadership…..we are talking about probably the greatest mentality set of winners in the last 30 years. A manager who wasn’t happy with how is team played 2 minutes after they won a cup final and said so. These lads were not your Paul Pogba generation, these lads were on another level in every regard.
-
I’m fairness mate, they were above him…..they all played and won everything in the biggest team in the world at the highest level and he was and still is a total f***ing nobody in football terms. You mentioned his personal accolades like manager of the moth and all that but what does that actually mean in football terms ?……it’s meaningless on the pitch mate. He tripped over one trophy in 25 year playing absolutely atrocious football…..make no mistake, we got battered in that final and I mean battered and he looked like a man in need of a lifeboat until a lad out of non league nicked

Just reading back through a few of these posts and caught this one again. I have not risen at all to the little jibes and insults and all that caper because I’m a big believer in not pissing on people, no matter what, who have been polite to you and kind with their offers. So I say this without any animosity at all, but who the f***ing hell do you and all the fans like you think you are ? You ain’t all the be all and end all, last word in everything West Ham related, you have no more ownership over what it means to be a West Ham fan than the next bloke. And talking to peop

Exeter is looking well mate ! Lol
-
Yep, my youngest has a real affinity with animals…..they calm each other from what I can make out.
-
Win, loose or draw its football you can get behind and long May he continue doing it.

It’s interesting Leicester being mentioned because it’s actually a really good example of what a myth how “good” Moyes is….. Leicester when they won the league played a 4-4-2 mid/low block and fast counter attack style with really busy front players who had real pace…..they conceded like 35-40 goals that season ? We have conceded 70 this season playing low block counter attacking football with about the same possession stats. Moyes achieved 1 thing at Preston was it ? f**k all at Everton, f**k all at Manchester United, f**k all in Spain, got Sunderland relegated and 1

They are saving those sites to build much nicer places for much nicer “professional” people instead……that’s what happened with the Tower Hamlets ghetto clearance out to my old area, built over everything, moved all the shit out to us, then knocked down the old estates and built better things for more affluent people. c**ts !
-
Leicester made every true football fan feel good I would like to think, it’s a fairytale but it’s also a marker mate imho…..it’s a marker that says anyone can achieve which is what I have always believed about football. That may be a silly notion but it’s how I view football.
-
It is to win mate, but shit football will always be shit football and it isn’t a crime to be honest and call it what it is…….lads who have been around football understand these honest conversations, calling a sows ear a silk purse in football just isn’t what you do.
-
I used to book you a sensible down to earth football lad but lately I’m not so sure mate, it’s getting more and more like talking to Max all the time. Some lads, like me, understand what the premier league product is…..we understood it years ago, hence the rise in popularity of non league football. We don’t dislike our club or stop being a fan, we just understand the reality and that reality is, it’s not “our club” any more it’s the premier leagues club and has been for years…..we knew it then and we know it now. Being a premier league product means certain things happen, one of
