Just a small point of order mate, but Britain is more like 70 million people and rising ! Something else interesting is that Germanys population is only a couple of million more than it was pre WW2 but ours is about 20 million more !

The inherent weakness in democracy I think must be us, the voter…..after all, we are the ones electing these total pricks. Ultimately it’s on us. So maybe we either need better leaders who are less democratic or better voters ?…….I’m going for option 2 ! In this day and age you can inform and educate yourself with your phone, in seconds…..there really is no excuse to be surprised or shocked or outraged. I have been listening to an audio book lately and it said you can’t have great leaders in a democracy because everyone ultimately becomes basically career, box ticking politicians/pen pushers who are capable of nothing……they lack the dynamism to make anything better. I think there is a point there…..not saying it’s the way to go, but it’s a point worth considering.

A lad from my old town (claim to fame, he has the biggest collection of milk bottles in Britain….yeah, I know !) actually started his own firm and went out and did that. Couldn’t make it work mate, too many exes, not enough money in it…..just sold all his milk bottles to an orange juice company the other week. He gave it a right good go, cost him thousands to set it up.

I’m old fashioned enough to treat these things with the amusement they deserve same as I would any simpleton making a tit of themselves…..we don’t take it serious because it’s not serious, I find it no more serious than if some fruitcake told me that tins of corn beef are really atom bombs and I’ll find is just as amusing. There’s not too much makes me feel uncomfortable and especially if it’s just nonsense.

It’s as serious or not serious as you want to make it mate, we ain’t particularly uptight about these things……my little lad don’t sit at the table and eat dinner with us anyway because he don’t want to, everyone else is a grown up and we laugh at grown up things. Nothing deep or sinister about it.

Can anyone give me one example (save in the film Shawshank Redemption and poor old Andy !) where anyone has had gayness “forced” on them ?
