  1. I agree with Phil here regarding where in the country you are to hunt in the main, personally I'd not look beyond lurcher x lurcher doing the business from your own locality matey..I've had bedlington crosses in the past & seen many at work & although they can be great bunny bashers & be fantastic at other aspects of lurcherwork they like all types may come with flaws which may or may not surface, they can on occasions be world championship yapping contenders, the "linty" coat is useless in extremes of weather cold, rain, wind etc, just remember to choose wisely as it's you who will hav
  2. Be a change from winter anyways Ken lmao
  3. June until September the midges will eat you alive lol..Make sure you take PLENTY of Skin So Soft it's your only hope matey,it works better than almost anything ✌
  4. Pups are looking fantastic lads ✌,hope they serve you well & for many years to come..I'm feeling pretty good about what these tykes may accomplish in the future ? ..Keep the pics coming regular please,I'd like to see how these pups come on ?
  5. Garmin Astro 220 or 320 Stone Rose, easy to work bud, easiest way i find is just leave the receiver on the "dog" setting which is basically a screen showing a compass with an arrow/s pointing in the direction of your dog/s and showing exactly how far away they are up to a distance of 7km i think it is,they work off GPS so satellites in the sky and are very accurate upto about 10 yards or so..They are a fantastic bit of kit mate
  6. I use this exact map on my Garmin Astro bud..Bought off this seller, works flawlessly.. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142218704503
  7. thinking of getting another pom fuji.?even i want a pom now. No lol, when the Poms gone I'm thinking about getting myself a little Schnauzer mate,my sister has one & it's a cracker of a dog,i reckon one of them would suit me lol ?
  8. Can't beat that Keith!! Another great day in Mother Nature's Garden ?
  9. Anymore dogs coming here (if any) will be neutered or spayed that's for sure, they will only be my companion so won't be breeding or suchlike,I'm looking for a stress free life & doing either of the aforementioned definitely won't deter from that ✌
  10. The mountains both here in the Lake District & up in Scotland where this pic was taken is where i spend the majority of my spare time, the weather isn't always wall to wall sunshine infact it's usually raining, snowing, blowing a gale, often you don't see any other form of human life, there are no deck chairs & parasols only moss covered rocks to park your arse on,there ain't no wine bars,no fast food outlets,no shops,no disco music to be heard..But to me being out in such places gives me great enjoyment, the solitude, the wildlife, the soaring Eagles above, the Red Deer in the rut,the smell of
  11. How the other half live lol ✌
  12. Well now the season is up I've finally got the motor booked in the garage tomorrow morning for a service lol,i think it needs one ?,in the last two weeks of the season in just 4 trips out i done over 2700 miles haha so both the car & i will enjoy not travelling excessive miles on a regular basis plus the dogs too i guess? Be no more ferry trips for a while either .. I certainly won't miss them when the seas rough lmao..
  13. And the same to you matey, what I wouldn't give to share a walk with the likes of you and northernlite, on some of your fantastic lands, and meet that little pom of yours, Cheers Keith, never say never fella ?

  15. Great to hear so many varied answers, even though we all have one thing in common in the lurchers we all have so many different things to occupy our time..Cheers folks, have a great time whatever it is your up to? ✌
  16. This book is Robin as a countryman putting over his views as a "pro" hunter regarding shooting, fishing, dogs so not too much unlike the one you mention infact it may be the same one bud?
  17. Well folks, the season has came to an end for most i guess so what's on the agenda for the forthcoming months for you guys? Some will have pups to educate, some love to go fishing, take off on exotic holidays etc.. I'm just a boring owld b*****d lol,I'm already in the process of reading some of the books in my collection, currently reading "Profit Hunters" by Bill, much in the book i can relate too so I'm enjoying it,got one or two I'm looking forward to re-reading these two in particular.. The first of those wrote by Robin Page he was a presenter on One Man & His Dog a long o
  18. Personally I'd not dream of slipping any puppy of 11 months old on old puss, even more so a heavily saturated greyhound type & if your getting good reports as you say from other owners from the litter Max will you remind me on not to ever let them have one of my pups lol..Each to their own i suppose but it's only a few more months until the season is upon us again & then they should hopefully be both mentally & physically ready for work..Saying that i have one here 19 months old & it's still very VERY immature, anyhow best of luck with the young gun,be nice to see how the litter
  19. Nice to hear he turned the corner Ste,i know we've spoken on the phone many many times regarding the bunny issue but in the end the dog came good,he's a cracking looking dog & I'm sure the future is going to be bright with him at your heel..Best of luck fella
  20. Stunning little animal..Best of luck for the future with the young gun ✌
  21. Definitely don't get many barren days with your crew!! Great result as ALWAYS ?
  22. I don't actually live in Scotland but spend much of the hunting season up there lol..You guys who live up there are very lucky,it's paradise on earth with abundant wildlife almost wherever you look.. Personally i love the place ✌
  23. I got one of them nd lasers found it good at first they definitely work but don't like having extra things to carry to much of a fiddle ok if two of yas.. Them Coleman 800000's were good durable lamps back in the day wasn't they, daft they stopped makin them really.. I still have two Coleman lamps bud,the 400,000 & the 800,000 candle power, both still have original wiring on,great lamps the pair of them in my opinion Dodge ✌
  24. Why anyone would even consider the idea is beyond sanity bud..They have NOTHING to offer what ANY lurcher hasn't got in my opinion.
  25. Dodge just buy a lamp off Lloydy & carry a small maglite torch to use as a dimmer & jobs a good un mate haha..
