  1. Wolves are nervous and prey on weak and injured,Theyed be more likly to take your kid than take many bites from fox.
  2. Cheers lads some good points there. To me it never seems right to see perfectly netted rabbits grabbed.
  3. Its good to have land up there if only to extend the season,They seem to get shorter.Had a mooch today and saw a young hare must have been a month old 3/4 rabbit size?
  4. Just wondering lads opions on ferreting dogs,Should they grab netted rabbits or only stand over them.Only grabbing them if they slip nets.
  5. If they could turn of there scent, they would do it as soon as they knew they were be hunted..(maybe).But if there bodies can stop giving of scent why havnt they evolved to stop as soon as they know there being hunted? If fox hounds were move efficent would you would end up with foxs that dont give of scent.
  6. A fox is much faster than fox hounds,In a course like a lurcher not a chance,Speaking slows them down as well.
  7. Nice looking spot for day work.Where i am no chance of good runs day time. The rabbits up there must be under pressure every one seems to be at them.
  8. I put mine on harnesses when possiable the kids walk them round the garden keeps the dogs use to em too
  9. Then you have individual noses,a hound that you might think is a hanger on not much use,can suddenly carry the pack when crossing sheep foil,or hounds that can hunt well when a fox runs the tarmac. As said its probally not knowing that makes it so interesting. My own favourite is hounds screaming fox gets headed and thats it they can no longer hunt him.
  10. It might if you were stupid enough to put them in the sun.
  11. Best thread ive ever read on here unfortuntently it looks like its going to end in name calling like the rest... I cannot say ive thought to much about were dogs come from,My lifes busy enough,But i do agree with painless that people are brainwashed. As they say on here that is a FACT

  14. I would say its a totaly different smell after breaking up compared to the smell left behind from a hunted fox. You can often tell scenting conditions at the meet or at least see when scent is poor just by watching hounds. Then a fox also seems to know when theres scent and fly out of covers or when they can duck around.Interesting is scent.
  15. Some of the worst coats you will see is on beddie xs.Soak through like lint.
  16. The very reason i always cringe when i see pictures of packs of lurchers.
  17. I would have thought that there would be a lot of size and type variation when crossing with a much bigger dog: I could be wrong but I remember seeing a pup out of a Deer/Grey to a Whippet/Grey: one pup came out small Whippet size! Not what the owner wanted at all. The mind boggles when I think what a Border terrier crossed with a Greyhound might turn out like. Or would nature sort it out and bring the first cross out all more or less somewhere between the two parents in size? The next generation down being the one which could throw up a very wide variation in size. Just wondering.Yes i d
