  1. A dog like that is always going to GO when hunting,But if you can get it so it draws at a close range{SHOOTING RANGE} you will have a good chance,If you start taking it out with the whippet to early he will start taking him of and then what ever they knock up you wont see it and thats not fun.Sorry for butting in.
  2. Border collie comes to mind. You were saying you train all your dogs to stand and watch another dog lamp without joining in without a lead, untill its its turn,A man of your training skills could train a dog to this standard easy,After all turning of its prey drive is the hard part.
  3. In racing greyhounds they say its "caught" inbetween the shoulder blades,They use a back man (manipulater) to free it
  4. I wont run on maze stubble and fresh plough.
  5. True a lad with couple of collies could probally teach them this trick,It would be a trick. But when the gales blowing and the dog has to react as soon as the lamp is flicked on confusion and frustration would surly follow for dogs and owner. When it comes to lamping keep it simple and enjoyable. For a simple lad like myself that often means i go lamping twice a night.Would still love to hear from the lads that have 2 dogs out how the retrieve works.
  6. Your very good if you can have 2 dogs of the lead and still only lamp one at a time, Did it for about ten years.Just a matter of training the first dog. Then bringing in a pup. In my expierance no matter how well trained a dog is on its own throw in another dog and one aint going to watch another catch the rabbit and stand still,What happens the rabbit runs bettween the lampers feet the dog not running and of the slip looks the other way Dont think so.You would want robots not dogs.If your doing it stick up a video i would love to see.

  8. If you are holding a dog and its straining to get at what ever the others caught, how dos the one thats retrieving bring it back? It would surly stop after a couple of times of having its quarry stole?
  9. Do lads really believe that a young dog learns anything from watching another dog say lamp rabbits?

  15. the same with beddys why is it you have to go on a waitinglist to get a plummer but you can get a beddy from anywhere You must be another plummer owner who thinks just because you need to go on a waiting list there the best thing since sliced bread, in reality mate they aint all that. There's good ones out there but I bet biggest part of them aint seen feck all. Seen plenty of plummers over the last 30 years mate and apart from a few lads who keep good workers and keep there lines tight the rest weren't worth a wank. Incidentley have you got a plummer dog because if you have what Whippe
