  4. The sience of stakiing riggers aint it great. Well done mate nice one
  5. I will be out in the wishaw area on [bANNED TEXT],s Will see waht is happening so good open bits to spy from there
  6. Make sure you really learn your i have stalked forestry edge all my life and had very good results. Get there half hour defore light and just sit in lickly areas and just watch whats moveing then do the same at night 3 hours before dark and sit well back till you cannot see .It will not be long before you know the local roe deer and from the area your in Newmains there will be plenty.
  7. Were are you from BB and if you go for paid days you will get experience and can use estate rifles most times you will get a chance to use differnt calibres eg .243 6.5 308 and so on this will let you gain knowledge on what gun suits you and why. When you are out before an after stalking ask as many questions as you can while stalking keep your mouth shut and learn. PS Badger Boy as a name suggests your a bit young for taking up deer stalking just yet.

  9. Its a done deal and please do not tell me Government don't work like that. BASC have the ground they didn't even get there culls when they had it last time failing every year if any one else did that badly they would loose there lease. Have a look at the criteria it was suggest that all leases would be done the same this one was written buy a commission officer for one purpose only that was to give it to BASC and still look as if it is open to all. PS THEY WILL ONLY PAY 5000 for it.
  10. If the roe are there in reasonable numbers then the food is ok and they are happy. Just do a proper census and shoot a planed cull.If your deer are moving out in the summer then this is territorial behavior. If they are moving out in the winter it usually means you have a cold wood. I would open up the canopy in places like suggested and plant trees that will afford shelter in the winter. Cut any Hawthorn down really low it will give food and shelter and any Evy bramble i would pull and peg to the ground. A wood getting planted with conifer after opening up the canopy but most of th
  11. I agree john a problem that should have been sorted some how but i have a gold that came in at 130.7 just made it i have it on a shield gave it an assessment and it is mid silver good job i kept full skull or i wouldn't have the paper work.
  12. TT If it is a full skull you will get deducted 90 grm mate no matter what but let me assure you that in about 99% of cases the skull that is cut off is heavier than that. If you do any cut you are leaving it to the chap who is measuring to decided what deductions . Again don't cut. I was out this morning looking at deer not in the mood this weather anyway a trophy but of medal class he will be left till after the rut.
  13. I realy hate to rain on your parade mate but if you think that a head will make any medal 450Grms or over then do not cut at all leave the head in tacked and only remove the lower jaw. Don't take it to a game fair you will get stuffed or offered some king of of pre assessment. Then you will need to send it again useless peckers.
  14. What kind of car do you drive a bloody smart car With regards siting kneeling and lying down you can do all that with a standard set of hazels and if i can get a prone shot i do. Got to agree with the single stick its never been my cup of tea and i can only reliably shoot out to 50 or so meters with one.
  15. Do you really think so John its 26000 acres now most forestry goes for £2 an acre any way the lease is a done deal BASC already have it.Its only up on the net for show
  16. http://www.forestry.gov.uk/website/forestry.nsf/byunique/infd-7nrksm Arran lease and three contracts for any one interested in deer managment as a job.

  19. http://www.shop4gerber.co.uk/e-z_saw_gerber.html Flytie has it bang on for a small saw .Dont touch the Bushware one cheap shite IMHO . But i am with the rest of the lads don't open the beast up at all until you get back home or to the larder. Then i use a bone saw for chest and pelvic bone. easy as .
  20. Terrier man thats a rip off and you know it its the pick of the litter but i kept a bitch i nearly fell off my seat at that one all the best with your sale and for me i would take my chance on the hundred quid one.
  21. Well done mate seems like your getting the hang of this deer thing
