Stunning bitch and top class breeding, going back all ways to the most influential and best producer ever The Duke Double bred Charlie who was a result of a half brother sister mating , Rambo x Sherry, both sired by Duke. Tina Turner, direct off the Duke to his daughter and Ghost off Dels Luke, also sired by old Duke -
Danny in Kent, who originally had Barney, ran Reds litter sister, I have a DVD of her and Barney as a young dog running on it. She could stay forever but pretty one paced. The Cash's had a cream dog out of the litter that was a good dog for them. How's your young dog coming on Inan?

Here is Red with his litter mates. He was bred Shearer x Rose, as pictured above at Pontop Kennels. Rose was Cruise x Seagull, [/img]

. Clive used it over his bitch after the memorial cup, he was so impressed with the young dog. John Y saw the dog run for a full season on the fen and told me the dog was top class and beautifully conditioned. -
Fair play to you Andy, lamping never has and never will appeal to me but the passion , pride and knowledge in your chosen line shines through and has obviously passed on to your boys Hope we get to have that "spin out" next season .......... all the best to you and yours

BALLYREGAN BOB LINES IN COURSING DOGS
miles replied to zigzag dan's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Mickey Harris owned Angie the red TEPE GAWRA bred saluki ( a kennel name used by John Burchard relating to an acient Arab city ) not Geoff Spur, he bred the litter. Cliff Cavour owned Bob and Mickey arranged it with him for the lining. Him and Del T went down to Curtis's the trainers place at Brighton and paid £400 for the line. Out of the litter with Beanie was Dels Queenie a bitch called Lady and Jim from Clacton had a little bitch that broke its neck early in its career. So it was 100% Bob, the brindle from him still come's through in the line from him today. -
100% Curlew

She was called Jess and was bought as a made dog of Lofti on here.

think there is some reaserch , into the forerunners of salukis and the most likely candidate was the abysinian wolf ; Yes Ray, the saluki WOULD have to have its own special wolf

Aggressive fox, treated and reared exactly the same way, so genetic rather that nuture.

Interesting thread, how were wolfs first domesticated? Look at the Belyaev Experiment with Arctic Foxes. Wild foxes that would savage you if you put your hand in the cage..... to docile domestic pets in a few short years by selective breeding The colours even started to change from the standard summer/winter coats. All domestic breeds of dogs , even the saluki, are genetically proven to directly descend from the wolf......................saluki and sloughi.?........ regional variations on a theme For me evolution is the only game in town, having said that there are ancient

Who know's? Not me anyway Kipper doesn't know either, just that he got him off a lad from yorkshire???
-
He was, bred by McKenzie in Hull from "Windswift" lines, Luke was owned and ran by the Stanley's before Ginger. He sired a top notch first cross called Amber owned by John Sharpe from Accy, who when put to Kippers Cruiser produced TM,s Smokey, J.F's Elsa, Chalkies Magic etc. The Grey's had Luke's litter brother and i don't know about Luke, but he was turning into something special but wasn't jabbed up and died of Parvo at 18 month My own bitch goes back to Luke through Smokey, others include DR Mona, again through Smokey, the sire to her sire Rudy. Always had a couple of days out

They certainly can be "high maintainence" that's for sure But any dog some people have, no matter what "flavour" would be

Has Any Coursing Competition Had More Depth Than the 2000Forley?
miles replied to inan's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Your right in all you say Bill, were i beg to differ is this myth that saluki lurchers are specialists, suited to and confined to the fens or other open spaces? Yes, of course, they excel at this particular task but a good one will take a hare anywhere any other breed or cross will. -

Charti, thanks for the patronising answer, the question was to Bill, I (like many others) ran Deerhound cross in the 70's from Nuttals kennel in Clitheroe all round the Lancashire moors and Yorkshire dales and they caught plenty of hares and everything else, but like you say thing move on. To get back on topic there were dogs as good or better before, at the same time and since but not together in the same place, i was there and the second ( heavy going ) day sorted the wheat from the chaff -

Now we are talking dogs...The assassin was a lurcher, half brother to my old bitch Bes owned by Ron Murray, he was half deerhound/greyhound out of Dukes big Blue dog in Bedlington, and Watsons (from the paper shop in Bedlington) lurcher, thought to be a collie cross..the assassin was the -
