Guys first off really sorry if this topic has been done to death... I have never owned a 4 x 4 before as I am very lucky to have a company car for my job, so don't need it for a daily drive I do a fair bit of shooting and am out every week either shooting or fishing or when in season wildfowling and am thinking of buying a 4 wheel drive to use on the farms and to get me over the winter as when it snows round here I can't get my car off the drive. Ditchys threads were always worth keeping up to date with. His mink trapping threads always made me laugh. The site hasnt been the same without him do you remember the butter on the window sill experiment and his feet one :sick: I The butter one was the first of ditches I thought of. I think he had marg there too and he was comparing decomposition. Good on you lad, your 17 years old and instead of wanting to stand in bus shelters getting p*ssed on cheap cider with a load of hoodies your wanting to go hunting instead. There are a few young lads on here and most are sensible (some are not) and it makes me have some faith in the next generation after all. I can only suggest as some earlier posts try to help out on a local farm get to know the people and you will earn your permissions. People don't choose generally .17HMR over .22 rim fire. Both have different qualities and many people choose to use both. A moderated .22 Rimfire is very quiet and much more suitable where noise may be an issue. A .17 HMR will provide the extra 100 yards when shooting rabbits/crows etc but with the distance come the crack of the bullet. Wind is also a factor the HMR bullet is affected much more than the .22 rimmy as is cost of the bullets (HMR being more expensive) I own both as there are two separate farms I shoot where one is more suitable than the other. Yes it was excellent, found that amazing that a fly lays eggs which hatch within the hour, the maggot starts to eat straight away and within 3 days it has turned into a fly mated and returned to lay its own eggs. 3 Days.....incredible
