  1. So is that like a nature reserve where you see the birds? Do they put out food for them? If so, what do they feed them and do they eat off the ground? Sounds a wonderful thing to see.
  2. Thanks Ann Marie. I was just looking for peoples experiences before looking for a new pup. I know people with expensive pedigree dogs affected by this disease and i really would want to avoid any type or mix where it is likely to crop up.
  3. Nice pics. One used to visit my garden years ago with a large white patch on his rump.
  4. To really get up there nose, just smile and wave.
  5. How much would the gear normally cost?
  6. I love it when little kids get on the net... Cheers. Edit: All this talk about killing the dog and blah blah. You sound like teens trying to show how interesting and exotic you are. Surely the UK has a few laws about dangerous dogs that allow the feds to deal with this shit. Let the State take care of the dog. Has the attack been reported to the police, the council or whomever administers the law? If not, why not? Failure to follow through in this makes you complicit on the next attack on the dog. I think the dog should go, no question, but foot stamping won't do it. Here a dog likle that
  7. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and if it is as common in crossbreed type dogs as it appears to be in the pedigree types? Thanks.
  8. How many pups do you need? Don't breed a load of crap that will end up in dog pounds - there is no glory in that, just buy a good pup from known working stock.
  9. READING it does not get anyone into trouble.........BOASTING about illegal activities on here might, as it appears stories of some peoples expolits have been used by authorities as evidence. The original question on this thread asks about the performance of current dogs. Don't get yourself or anyone else into trouble
  10. Give it a go - keep the sessions short and interesting for the dog. Have you had it from a pup? Good luck, hope it comes right for you.
  11. What would you consider 'hard training in a closed tennis court?' I beleive most dogs can be improved through regular, consistent training. Give it a go and see what happens it's got to be worth a try, otherwise do the responsible thing and keep it on a lead.
  12. My photos from today - sorry they are very shaky.
  13. Just saw these for the first time today in my garden, I live in the centre of a town. When one caught my eye at first I thought it was a sparrowhawk that some times visits but then it started eating berries in the shrubs. Then I noticed there was quite a few of them, they were quite bold. I tried to take some photos but they were all shaky. Always nice to see something different. I also saw a new very green-yellow coloured bird today, about the size of a sparrow with a longish tail.
  14. Whilst flicking through the channels I noticed some lady dart players.
  15. Does the dog do this when he is in your company oe when he is alone? Are you looking at it, calling it or speaking to it when he does it? I have seen dogs do this when they are excited (mostly Springer spaniels). Maybe you could try taking it outside without any fuss like speaking to it then teach it to pee on command?
  16. The weather here is shocking - snow and ice everywhere! As usual I have been putting food out for the birds - seed mix, peanuts, fat balls, old cheese and scraps etc. There are still lots of birds in the garden but they don't seem to be eating the food I put out - my neighbour throws out stale bread for them, they seem to be choosing this over the food in my garden. In this extreme weather I am really considering starting to put out bread for them, something I never do because I always thought it was not as nutritious for them, but in this cold weather it might help to keep them going? Is a
  17. That's a real shame - it looks nasty that. Did the vet give any sort of explanation etc.? Do they charge you every time you go to have it checked and redressed? An outcome like that would really challenge your faith in that vet in future.

    crows

That sounds like a lot of ballsing about to shoot one crow. I hope they were not all waiting around to make a roast dinner of it!
  19. Those fish were born in the pond and are now probably 8-10 years old and measure about 10 inches long. They are pretty hardy and healthy enough to spawn most springtimes. They only get fed from March-October every year. I tend not to fuss too much at them anditseems to suit them ok. They add a bit of colour to the garden. The pond is good for attracting birds and also bl**dy cats!!!!
  20. Last night must have been one of the coldest yet, it is lunchtime now and the pond is still completely frozen over for the longest time ever. The fish are still moving about slowly under the ice.
  21. I never had a crow but did have a baby sparrow for a while, found it in the garden as a scaldy with hardly any feathers. I kept it in a hamster cage and fed it on soaked bread until it was big enough to go. The wee thing hung about in the hedge for a while and then went on its way.
  22. Lovely to see that. Is it a male bird? Do the canaries ever get harrassed by the hawks?
