Well yes. If you were 6" tall the only way you could fire a gun with 30" barrels would be to get someone rather taller, Lemuel Gulliver perhaps, to load it and lay it on the ground. Then tie a lo-o-ong piece of string to the trigger, stand well back and pull like f**k. Not much cop on clays but you could get a really good bag of worms. Ric

I'm sure you will get on fine but the T3 Lite is probably the worst balanced gun on the market, especially if you fit a mod. It took me about 2.5 years, 2 barrel cuts, 5 scopes, 2 sets of mounts, 3 moderators and eventually about 6oz (150g)of lead in the butt to sort it out...oh yes..... and a lot of money! It's great now, enjoy the journey!!! Well you are a proper Job's comforter! Didn't it hurt getting 6oz/150g of lead in the butt? That's what I call a magnum load. Not to be taken sitting down . . . ATB with it Lango Ric

Ultimate all purpose hunting round for Europe is the 6.5x55. Full stop. Ric well ricw all the charm of a low flying brick as usuall! although you do have a point, as i have learnt how to stalk with a sauer 6.5x55 but its a wee bit on the pricey side! i did look a tikka in 6.5 and my friend can home load for me.......maybe that is a good choice! Yup, that's me all right. Well known model of tact and diplomacy. Also been known to poke sticks in hornet's nests. Seriously tho' and without pretending to speak from experience I am surprised that more interest isn't shown on her

I'm coming on to this one a bit late cos I've been away for a few days. Swampy, you seem to be claiming that civil disobedience never changed anything. Sorry if I have misinterpreted you . . . but. When the anti poll tax march kicked off in Trafalgar Square in 1990 and we went down and dirty with the Met we got rid of Mad Maggy The Handbag. Even her private advisers have admitted that the weight of public opposition meant that she had to go. If we make our position clear the politicos have to listen cos if they don't they lose votes. I don't advocate violence but if it works . . . Ric

Err, I don't want to worry you but "6" "as you say means you are 6 inches tall? Didn't you mean 6' ? I only ask because I'd like to know. . . Ric

Ive just had a look at Chuck Hawkes on zeroing. The maximum Point Blank Range for the HMR firing 17gr is 165 yds. That is, the Point of Impact will be no more than 1.5" higher or lower than the Point of Aim from "under the muzzle" to 165 yds. Lay the cross hairs on the body, correct for windage, dead bunny. No need to correct for elevation. That gives you 1.5" high at 100yds, 5.5" low at 200. Ric

Wrong again. For 4 months of that, I was 'fixing' the carb. No probs riding the trike in the wet. Don't have a car so if it's wet it's bike or trike mate. And the bike, being a Honda, usually works..... Yeah. Ain't these JapCrap bo-o-o-ring? My Ducati could be a bull bitch b'staard. But when it came on song around 11000 Hoo boy it went like the hammers and it was just so much FUN.

Hadn't even considered that ....good point. Guess I could use a pair of mongoose instead ( mongoose plural.. mongeese ? mongi ? ) Pair of mongoose. Two mongooses. The one that bothers me is the plural of "mouse" as a piece of computer kit. Do we use mice or mouses? Or even meece? Who knows? Even more to the point who cares? Ric

Sorry. I didn't make clear that I meant on a regular basis. Ric

There is no mystery about the different directions of fall-out if you just apply a bit of lateral thinking. Prevailing wind direction can swing through 180deg with the time of year. It depends on the position of the Azores high pressure area. I am sceptical about the harm done in this country by the radio-active fall-out from Chernobyl but any-which-way it is irrelevant to the point of this thread. Acid rain in Scandinavia was indeed damaging forests, and was indeed caused by chemical fall-out from British coal-fired power stations. At the time the coal used had a high sulphur content.

Blackfox - I think you are picking on me. You know full well that I plan to build a .204 special when I get my FAC back. You know full well that I plan to handload. So you keep on showing the results you are getting with your handloads in your new .204 just to upset me. And now you put up a picture of your gun, which is 'Kin Beautiful. One can go off people. My sig was meant as a joke but you are making it come true! More to the point, have you tried the 30gr Bergers on birds?. I know you mainly shoot fox but I would like to hear about the results of the really fast rounds on feathered qua

I stand corrected on this, but not the after-effects of the Chernobyl melt-down. You are going for another pint, I'm going to work. b*****d. On yer trike!

Epidemiology is the study of how contagious diseases develop, not environmental diseases. And I wasn't the one bringing up Chernobyl. You're right, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. But no knowledge is worse. Keep taking the medication Ric Ha! Different types of power station. Coal fired power stations cause Acid Rain. Chernobyl was nuclear. No damage to the atmosphere, but the radioactive fallout caused extra cancers in the North West. Did it? The epidemiological evidence is that the effects of radioactive fallout from Chernobyl were and are negligible. Yes the guys who went in there to try to control the melt-down are dying from massive overdoses of radiation but the effects even a few miles away were non-existent. And just what in the names of all the gods does this have to do with global warming? Somebody on
