Not as far as I could make out. She had just done THE WRONG THING. It is not politically correct to stomp on rats. As some of you know, I am at university at the ripe old age of 61. I was in a uni bar this lunchtime when the subject of RATS came up. Management were getting paranoid about them. Decided to go for poison and traps. After this, a lass working behind the bar told me about her experience with rats. She was working behind another uni bar when a rat ran out. She was wearing her 12 hole DMs so she did what I reckon anyone would do. She stomped on it. Flat rat, blood guts and squashy bits all over the floor. She was hauled up before a disciplinary committee and reprimanded for cruelty to animals.

Agreed. My first reaction was just plain anger at this twat. But you do need to be fairly sure of the situation before you go off on one! Check if the permission holder allowed him to shoot deer on the understanding that he would be using .243, which is the minimum deer calibre in England and Wales. Phone your own FEO, tell him/her the crack and sress that you, as a responsible shooter, want this kind of behaviour stopped NOW. Probably the same FEO any way, but if not they all know each other. If it is attacking livestock you can shoot it with a "suitable calibre". .243 and up, or as said shotgun with SGs close up. But that close I do not want to be! There was a thread on here a while back started by a guy who was losing sheep and thought it might be a big cat. He set up a hide and the culprit succumbed to a .243. It was a lurcher gone feral. If you don't catch it in the act then, as said, shoot it with a good camera then fire a shot to scare it off. RicW

I have been making up rounds for a friend of mine's 204. I will just say this - when the barrel likes the ammo that is going through it, it is an incredibly accurate tool - his will group sub .25" and I have witnessed him shoot crows range found at 265 yds. However I would state that to get the best out of this calibre, precise homeloading is really the only way with calibre - if you are not a homeloader, then I would suggest something like the 223 or 22.250 I'm planning to build one so I'm biased! For whatever reason the round seems to be very fussy about actions as well as barrels

There are more under 5s in hospital with swine flu than any other age group, and the number is growing. No-one in the UK died of bird flu. So far over 70 have died of swine flu. There are already signs of a more lethal mutation arising. Therays is spot on. As an at risk person I was round to my surgery within an hour of getting a text from the NHS so I am not being hypocritical. RicW

Boring out a barrel? re-chambering

It would be cheaper and safer to buy a proprietary barrel. Look up Border Barrels. Their own name barrels are world class, even the American sites recommend them. Cheaper but still seriously good gear are their Archer barrels. They will supply a gun fitted with one or t'other. Ric -

Without a doubt make, and if we we're struggling that's where the benefit of EU membership comes in. I'm not a huge fan of the EU, but we pay enough in to it, and that's what it's there for. Sounds like a bit of a misnoma then. Independence? Independent of what? Substitute Westminster with Brussels. Concessions are always made, so all that money Westminster is currently paying to the EU will/should have to come from Cardiff?!
