This whole pensions argument goes back a lot further than most of yous guys realise. I worked for an insurance company in the late '70s. Yeah, door to door, stop laughing at the back there. We were told that the biggest problem faced by insurance companies was the baby-boomers. After WWII ended a lot of squaddies, sailors and airmen were demobbed. From 1945 on it was nookie nookie nookie all over the gaff. From as early as 1950 it was clear that there was a ticking bomb in the system. There were going to be a LOT of people retiring from 2010 on. Then the baby boomers made things worse by havin
  4. Belgium has not had a functional government for 18 months. They seem to be coping ok.
  5. It has. Just that nobody's noticed.
  6. He's deffo got the will to do it, just can't see how he's going to get those armed pick up trucks across the Med with no navy, & a naval blockade containing some of the worlds most advanced naval weaponry right in his way! I also think the Eurofighters, Rafales, F18's, etc patrolling there would make an air assault pretty unlikely too! dont worry he will have his bomb vest wearing idiots to blow themselves up at key places like the other nut did No chance. All the hardline Islamicist groups hate his guts. They're supporting the rebels! Nah, he's trying to make us die l

Ric, in all honesty either a chinaman or a robot ! I wouldnt want to be a working (peasant) class chinaman would you ? Sadly (& I do deplore them) number crunchers fatassed or othewise are vital in todays business environment. :11:

Try producing anything without a working class. Who built your car? Did your fridge, freezer, cooker, just grow on trees? What class were the guys who built your guns? People on production lines are working class by definition and they are the true wealth producers, not some fat-assed number crunchers in flash offices.
  9. Home Office advice for FEOs is that no rimfire should be granted "for the purpose of" shooting fox. It depends on the force issuing the FAC. Some will grant "occasional" fox on the ticket, Some just say no! Tell 'em you're planning to use the HMR for rabbit at longer range, grounded pest birds and other vermin, but if Charlie pops his head up you want to be able to put a hole in it.

Nice idea mate. Get the lass in training. She'll have a cockatoo when she grows up . . .
  11. Sand down to bare metal and respray. Any solvent that will strip the glue will strip the paint as well. If you just paint over it the glue will bleed through the new paint. Life can be a bitch . . .

She stood upon the bridge at midnight, Throwing snowballs at the moon. She said sir "I've never had it," But she spoke too bloody soon. It's the rich what gets the pleasure, It's the poor what gets the blame. It's the same the whole world over, Ain't it all a bloody shame.
  14. In the end it comes down to yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice. I like .22lr but then I go back a lo-o-ng way. If you already have .17HMR stay with it, it's a very useful calibre. Edited to add, why not add .22lr to your FAC? Cost you 25 notes but over 5 years cheap as chips

There's no doubt a lot of public sector workers do a good job and not always for great money and I don't think it should come down to public versus private as they very often feed off each other. However the private sector workers pension is also in many cases buggered and they too will have to work longer, the friction is caused by the fact labour cosied up and massively over inflated the public side of things, flexi hours, shorter week, earlier retirement etc and expected the private sector to foot the bill( as the public side generates little or no wealth) whilst paying more and working lo
  16. :welcomeani: You need to get a permission, ie an area of land where the landowner will let you shoot, as your priority. Failing that for now, try to meet a few guys who have shoots who will let you along. Always ask nicely! Check out local farms and go round. A personal approach is far better than a phone call. I find best time is 6-ish, tea-time. Farmers are busy busy people. DON'T turn up in camo and muck boots. Smart jeans, shoes, clean sweatshirt. Then "Mr Smith, would you let me have a go at shooting pests in your land? I'd be using an air rifle on rabbits, grey squirrels, rats, and

Ever been unemployed? The lass behind the counter at the Job Centre is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!!! She tries to help you find a job that will suit you, tells you about training, does all she can to help. She's on minimum wage. You slag her off, walk out and get mugged for your dole money. The copper who gets called out is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!! You have been injured, someone dials 999. The operator is a - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANT!!!!! The ambulance crew are - wait for it - PUBLIC SERVANTS!!!!! While you are in hospital, where the nurses are - wait for it - PUBLIC

So it's ok to shut the schools because a pair of obscenely wealthy useless parasites are getting married at public expense but not because working people are trying to defend their rights? There are some real arsehole crawling royal bumsuckers on this site. And if the cap fits . . .
  19. I know we can get paranoid but . . . were they antis? And is someone trying to drop twotwothree in the brown stuff? Ric

  21. Yeah, they must be on your ticket. They can only be used for specific purposes, mainly close-range deer, so telling your FEO you want to blow your neighbour's door hinges out may not go down too well. Ric
  22. A vet once told me that the breed most often brought in to be sedated/castrated/put down for bad behaviour was Labrador. Dickhead buys a big intelligent working breed, shuts the dog in a little semi detached all day, walks it 50 yards to the nearest lamppost, lets it have a crap on someone else's front lawn, then back to the goggle-box. The dog is bored shitless, gets all bouncy and aggressive and ends up dead. "But they use them as guide dogs". Yeah, right, and a guide dog is working 24/7! PS My Apsos were great little ratters. Depends how you train 'em . . . Ric
  23. The HMR is supersonic. There is no way to suppress the sonic boom. The .22lr is normally used with subsonic ammo, and the muzzle crack can be absorbed by a good moderator. (That's as in SAK, not as in Sounder ...) Ric
