  1. how is the dog in the second picture bred birddog her dad 29" was out of a 3/4 greyhound deerhound from doxhope lines by a mainly deerhound x lurcher that goes back to some of the dogs in docherty's book and her mum is a well bred 26" greyhound
  2. does anyone have a postcode for conniston hall
  3. couldn't agree more, 'bryn' is a cracker, bird has been asked to use him a few times
  4. boyo, your spot on especially with collie crosses you only get out what you put in, and if the time and effort aren't there.... it's the breeders blame
  5. for the most part grant were on the same side, but how many of the moaners complain about what national organisations (ie the kc) are doing to genuine working breeds like the whippet and the deerhound ? do the breeders of king charles 's really care that the pups are fairly certain to end up with all sorts of probs? how many of us have seen dog's kept alive for a few extra weeks or month's by unscrupulous vet's manipulating the pet insurance schemes? i really could go on all night with lots of examples so while i agree the hancock business plan isn't ideal i genuinely believe there are lots of
  6. Going off subject a bit but what happens to the greyhounds when they've spat 2 or 3 litters out? Can hardly compare them to well kept ferrets mine have plenty exercise between kids playing with them and living in an 8x4x6 run not kept in a kennel in an unfit condition if I was breeding a bitch I would make sure her fitness was tip top but were going off topic a bit for the record tho I'm not a hypocrit lol I don't eat eggs from caged hens nor do I buy cheap shirt meat. Bottom line is he is a puppy peddler who doesn't care what happens to pups as long as he eat his money you could be buying
  7. Chalky, would you have another 'Maddie'?
  8. why is there nothing on here about the show this week? a couple of us were thinking about coming down for the day
  9. sorry but a dealer buys something in and sells it on for a profit, the hancocks are breeders and they don't make silly claims or the like so i would call them honest breeders. i've no real gripe for or against them they do what they do guy's, if they were no good at it they'd have been bankrupt decades ago. so we don't like puppy farmers......we all eat eggs from battery chicken houses or pork and bacon from intensively reared pigs etc, how many of us keep ferrets in there runs with no real exercise especially at this time of year? do i sense a touch of hypocrisy? although ive seen a few over
  10. sounds like he didn't suffer and went out doing what he was born for but still a pisser for you atb
  11. cracking looking litter good luck with them
  12. just wish i could catch fish like she can catch rabbits..........hundreds of pounds worth of gear, cracking beat etc etc result......soaked to the skin and 2 poxy wee finnock
  13. ray she'd go through anything for a bunny but far too clever at times....she's currently in the huff because she's sussed the waders and fishing gear are out and i'm chasing seatrout tonight,
  14. i agree with loads there mate and having seen him a few times now he is a cracker but on your last line........ive seen litters where only one or two turn out great and the mating gets repeated because it's deemed a success.....but hey their worker to worker / line bred or whatever term is in fashion
  15. apologies for putting the same pic in twice it should have been this one
  16. 'jazz' 3/8 beardie / border x 5/8 greyhound 24 1/2 " 4yr old
  17. i've got one who does everything needed of her, i've seen a few and most were good dogs especially at the rabbiting game, the hancock's seem to know their stuff and have always been polite and reasonable anytime i've spoken to them, as for the often used peddler bit as far as i know they put one wee ad in one magazine a week, they don't push a type on a customer that's unsuitable, they rely on reputation and customers contacting them, they don't go around 'peddling' their stock, in my eyes that's hardly adding up to a peddler. they've bred hundreds of litters and reared thousands of pups, so d
  18. just been round at my terrier pal's.. if we or you could get a permanent venue would a tunnel type test for terriers not be a great idea? there are some on you tube that have mesh fronts so you can see the action..... just a thought
  19. NICE ,,,, ,,,here,s my white and fawn ,,,whip/grey and my black bat lol ,,,whip/grey again they are looking well bob but i reckon you should be paying me rent for the amount of time your in them fields and you missed a good day yesterday bud time for you to get a proper lurcher methinks
  20. teach her the commands...hold.....and leave
  21. bob, do you know a lure driver? he he he
  22. impressive beasts for sure.........but for lurcher production??????? i'll stick with a 24 or 25" inch mutt weighing 40 or 50 lb as my preference, just hope there isn't some hoodie neds on here thinking about crossing them with their status bull types but maybe they'd be ok on some of whin's 'big land'
  23. lots to consider, yes numbers and amount of hunting but what about type of land
  24. i'm a fan of the deerhound, one of my bitches is a deerhound cross, i agree that the kc guys have not done the breed any favours but my understanding of many of the old books and descriptions of the dogs used by early stalkers and hunters they seem to be what we would call a deerhound lurcher with generous dollops of collie or foxhound in the mix (both breeds renowned for their stamina) not gigantic ungainly types or racy coursing types either
