  1. no doubt, but this is a young guy looking for help with a young pup NOT retrieving the dummy
  2. it's about the only time i've been happy having teenage kids they still had to show me a dozen times......they go that feckin quick
  3. i'd wait till she had the dummy retrieve spot on then use a dummy covered with rabbit skin, when YOU gauge she's getting that one good i'd start to vary it and use a dummy with a couple of pheasant wings (i just use elastic bands to hold them on, dry the wings first) got to get the behaviour and commands spot on as the excitement of the chase will make her forget, a wee bit of work done now will pay big dividends come the dark nights maybe the end of september and lots of green naive young bunnies, youv'e got maybe 60 days till then 5 or 10 min sessions twice a day gives your pup lots of time
  4. My thoughts aswell mate! Someone on here will know who has a dark coloured people carrier,so dont be shy or a soft tw@:! i agree totally someone knows you or the bitch or both i'd be making stern local enquiries good luck
  5. We all get our turns it seems, also read a while ago that the coursing lads on the fens where the thugs of the countryside..so, well done everyone, we are all thugs..soon it will be the turn of shooters and fishermen the fishermen have already had it, lead weights, blocking canal paths, old line tangling birds, overdigging bait beds etc etc
  6. like the black ones style, no messing, hanging back or the like just get the job done she's class
  7. her dad is 29" out of a 3/4 greyhound deerhound from doxhope lines by a mainly deerhound x lurcher that goes back to some of the dogs in docherty's book and her mum is a top honcho bred greyhound out of a bitch by larkhill jo so loads of sandman, i'm slippy and westmead stuff there
  8. aye theres a few of us going for the day but the website is not very good and very few details on the lurchers or terriers
  9. thanks mate she's she was the smallest as a pup now nearly 26", i've never seen it but theres a smooth coated 25" blue bitch that went to a farmer that's doing really well, i see your north west are you going to coniston tommorow?
  10. spoke to belles breeder this morning and took a few pics to show how she's maturing......enjoy
  11. lots to agree with there mate but although i understand what you mean i'd question the unproven bit, he uses stud dogs that have produced worker after worker for 10 or 12 yrs, he uses broods that have a similar record, he / they even know what kind of temperament certain stock of theirs throws. and the worker to worker brigade will go to a virgin dog because its a good worker with no record of stock production and sometimes little knowledge of it's breeding, background or genetics and put it to a bitch from such and such a line and pay / charge sometimes telephone numbers for the pups / stud f
  12. i'd be chuffed if my fussy deerhound x ate that in a week!
  13. as you say a lot is down to the owners maybe thats why some don't make it, if someone used to the point and shoot type dogs that don't require the stimulation of a collie x takes one on without being prepared for the commitment needed it's understandable if the pup falls short, before someone picks me up i agree that perhaps hancock himself could do more to vet the buyers but is that really his job? if anyone is going to buy a pup that'll potentially last them a dozen or so years should they not do their homework? 4 past and just keeps getting better
  14. Try this, got it off their web page, Secretary Steve Kennedy, 63 Kirkfield, Ambleside, Cumbria LA22 9HA Tel: 015394 32469 E mail; info@conistoncountryfair.co.uk Think we might try to make this one on Sunday as well. Cheers. cheers hun we saw that but no info on classes times etc and with nearly 4 hrs each way we want to make sure we get it right
  15. nae bother bud there should be a few of us will you have 'the' shoes on
  16. were struggling to make contact with anyone, cw phone number no use has anyone any details on this, it seems theres a wee convoy of us going down.
  17. and it wouldn't have lasted 6 months if they weren't doing something right
  18. well done, when i had my first pup i listened to everyone and picked the best advice, no pup has been ruined by being held back a little but lots are spoiled by entering too early
  19. unfortunately we learn more from our mistakes and difficult dogs, just be cool, consistent and patient, take your time you and the pup will have many years together
  20. just a wee bit off but i had a grey/collie x grey/whippet 30yrs ago bags of stamina, real fire, good feet and a thick tight waterproof coat she wasn't big about 21" but took daytime hares single handed and a really nimble rabbiter was my introduction to lamping proper...........thanks for the memories rip rose
  21. spoken to ray a few times he seems a real gent, i'm a big fan of bryn and theres talk of us trying to sort out a day / night or two out with jazz and bryn in the future
  22. maybe overdone it and she's bored give her a week or two off i'd stick with the tug o war it really helps, also i'd differentiate between her toys and her working dummy
