  1. I've got hold of a cattle horn which I would like to clean up but unsure of the best way. I have read a few things on the internet about boiling them but some say it makes them too soft, and it has a nice shape at the moment I would like to keep, but I don't know how I would scrape out the very end as it isn't purely straight. It was only taken off yesterday so is still very fresh, and I would like to get it done sooner rather than later. So, what would you recommend is the best way of getting rid of the core of the horn, and how exactly do I go about it? Thanks.
  2. Yeah I thought I would have to but do you know what forms and stuff I need to send off?
  3. I want to move my shotgun to a friends cabinet which is closer to my work but dont know what I need to do to make sure its all legal etc. Can anybody help me and tell me what I need to do? Thanks
  4. Just looking at getting a new gun cabinet and wondered where was alright to put it? I know it has to be against a safe stone wall but does it have to be hidden like in a cupboard or can it just be behind a door or something? Thanks
  5. Im near oxford. Well I want to spend enough for it to last for a while and so I don't find myself in need of another one at any point. I dont have a budget as such just something sensible worth the money. I wont be using it flat out so not looking for top of the range but middle price range would be more realistic.
  6. I have been shooting for a while but am looking to buy my own shotgun. I will be doing mainly pigeons, crows and the odd game bird. I would prefer an over and under 20 bore as this is what I have used already and liked using them. Can anyone help me by suggesting any shotguns they would recommend? Thanks.
  7. I have been making my own thumbsticks for a while but I have simply been hollowing out the antler and doing a dowel type fixing to connect them together. I was wondering if anyone could tell me, or do some kind of tutorial showing how to fit keepers over the joint as it looks mush smarter. Thanks.
  8. Yeah it wont be a case of night after night I shouldn't think. the ground is fairly flat got the odd rolling hill but nothing steep that ill be hunting.
  9. Im looking into buying a new dog for a spot of hunting. Will most probably be rabbits with a couple of ferrets in the winter. Was just wondering if anyone would recommend one or the other and their reasons why. I am tempted by a whippet more but thats just personal taste but if one is better at hunting id rather that of course. Cheers
  10. I am completely new to fishing and was talking to a friend the other day and he said my friend (who has done quite a bit of fishing before) and I was welcome to come and fish in his lakes at anytime. Without being rude and seeming ungrateful I said that would be great! He said there were a lot of tench in the lakes and thats mainly it. The main thing is of course a rod. I don't want to buy a very expensive one as I wont get much time to use it but more of a beginners rod I'm looking for, any ideas? Also any tips on bait and things like that would be much appreciated. Thanks
  11. Im looking for a rifle for around £150 that will kill rabbits and other small game. Can anyone recommend any that would work? Thanks.
  12. Yeah it is a mounted pack. Antis have somehow managed to find every meet and we are only cubbing. God only knows what they will be like when we start hunting.
