  6. the real secret is to know your dog (dogs)........ some eat better, condition easily, some walk well others hate it, a lot depends on the feeding regime, the weather plays its part, how old are they ? (younger dogs condition easier) how are they bred? ( saluki and deerhound x's need different work from a collie x) what kind of land you hunt etc etc etc don't let them get bored, i use ball work in the park and beach depending on the time of day or weather, roadwork and massage play a big part as does the speed of the work, an hour in the woods working cover and catching ferret food does no harm
  7. much as iv'e enjoyed the recent minshaw thread and heard all about the whinshaw's iv'e decided my next dog is going to be a........... mother in shaw big, rough coated, eats anything, puts on weight easily, doesn't take any exercise, got an incredibly sharp mouth, has it's nose in everywhere, can be a little snappy but for stamina......just keeps going and going and going and going
  8. been working so ive just read the whole entire thread (how sad is that) there are lots of opinionated guys on here whats the big deal with one? from what i hear (i don't know the guy) he has and does walk the walk. some of his posts are entertaining, reading between the lines some are informative, some of his grammar, syntax and spelling are incredibly funny, i've said it before it's the variety of people, experiences and opinions that make this site worthwhile. we can't all be right all the time
  9. is the bottom pic the start of a routine to win next years x factor?
  10. best i've seen have all had collie in their make up but there are lots of good honest anonymous dogs out there whose abilities perhaps are kept a little quiet with all the anti's and dog thieves etc out there, best person to ask is the local game dealer

  12. Ive read that a few times but i cant understand it.Can you write it again please. I have known Dave and his family for 20 years. Have bred dogs from his old line and gave him some dogs from mine. We have been pals for years. He knows his dogs, he is friendly with many other working dog enthusiasts. He uses his greyhound dog as a stud to produce lurchers. He had an incident with a man called Kevin Walker who participated in field trials and won one. It was very unfortunate as Dave is a generous man, always willing to partake his knowledge to those who may require it. He knows more tha
  13. andy, just a thought youd be on a winner if you were to write a book mate, much better than a lot of the drivel from so called experts
  14. hey bud hows tricks, i'm chuffed as anything she's coming on really good maybe not as bright as jazz but if you go along with her she's fine, biggest fault is she's such a picky eater can't help but wonder how much better she'd be with a few pounds more on her. hows your pup doin ? he looked well at kirkaldy. is he related to the new line of stud dogs hancock's bred?
  15. she's 3/8 beardie / border x 5/8 greyhound 4 yr old and if the pup can take half the game jazz has i'll be a real happy man.
  16. cheers mate, heard i missed you at kirkaldy again, the deerhoundy one got a look at the lure the other night, i put her in with a decent 30 odd pounder on her 3rd run and she was way in front i think she would be even better if she wasn't such a fussy eater
