  1. the pic chalky put up had nothing to do with this.....it was naked lesbians rolling about in strawberry jam
  2. she sounds good but to keep the theme going.....did you breed her?
  3. i don't have a problem with finding a pet home for a youngster that's not making the grade, but........where do we stand with the moral high ground bit if we start knocking perfectly healthy well bred pups on the head because we've overbred?
  4. jeez bud if your offering me the choice between killing 'jazzs' pups or funding hancocks new car ?????
  5. some of the nicest most genuine guys i have met are dogmen i'm certainly not tarring everyone with the same brush, i'm only asking the question. also youv'e kinda hit on the problem i was talking about earlier...if i wanted a pup for myself and bred 'jazz' with say 'birds' 'bryn' or 'keeps' 'indie' or my pal rakes cracking young half cross all genuine honest working sound collie x's could i find maybe 10 guy's with the patience, temperament and inkling for a collie x cur at that particular time ? i doubt it and i'd have a litter of pups that i'd be responsible for
  6. i understand what your saying and have said often that hancock's policies are not ideal, but we don't live in an ideal world. when i phoned him he asked me lots of questions almost a type of vetting at the time i could have a choice of a number of litters with differing breeding, from smooth coated 1st x's to rough coated 3/4 bred, i could get them black, white, merle, brindle etc. to be honest i took on board a lot of the advice he gave and i'm glad i did now cos jazz suits me and i kinda suit her. rakes half collie i think is a step further being lurcher to lurcher, we can trace a family tre
  7. nice picture hopefully that will be my little lad in another 4 years excellent to see. get him out now..mines been fishing and ferretting for years, he had his 1st cod aged 3 and has 14 troutmaster badges but he's developing a likeness for dark nights and the wind in his face.............just the little sod can run faster than me
  8. how many dogs could you trust to go hunting with a 13yr old in public? and who say's collie x's can't catch golf course rabbits? my youngest son last winter with his mate, 'jazz' and ferretty friends
  9. storm, you say 'plenty of decent lads on here' and 'i know a lot of people' but how many responded to my question earlier about finding homes for perhaps 10 pups? like 'chalky' and others have said it's not rocket science to breed them but if honest, genuine dogmen want to maintain the moral high ground over 'puppy farmers' surely we have to make sure pups get a good home.
  10. thanks for your constructive and positive input into this topic, it's quality comments like this that members will judge you on, well done thanks again
  11. but i think youd have a waiting list if you were to mate her in the future to a good 1st cross maybe like 'birds' 'bryn' youd get some smashing 3/8 5/8 pups
  12. mostly rabbiting, lamping she was scary when young really high prey drive stuff but she's settled down lots works without a slip, takes sitters live to hand etc. ferreting she's ace, does everything needed, i'm of an age when 'Chalky's' articles years ago inspired me so ive tried her with the long and gate nets, i've found with long nets it's obedience and practise and although not always 100% she's really getting there. with the gate nets i've held her back a bit i think, i was looking for collie type outruns and specific type fields etc but it's at least at the start far more down to my fie
  13. as far as i know he doesn't use bitches with dodgy feet, producing pups that potentially have dodgy digits wouldn't be good for long term business............fck i wish i was 21 and still living at home i'd be a rich man and freeeeeeee
  14. don't think i'm getting my point over......if i were to breed jazz to a collie x would there be enough decent guys out there after a collie x cross collie x if she had 10 or a dozen pups, theres lots of quality and different collie x type studs to choose from but do i pick what i'd want or what was going to be popular? ........i reckon if i were to put her to a deerhound x i'd get plenty of interest......i've had a couple of local guys say they'd like a pup whatever i chose but that still leaves a lot of pups looking for a home and i'd want to make sure they went to at least decent if not
  15. I'm not 100% sure as the memory aint what it was, I'll dig my diary out later and check, the sire was out of Taffy and I think the dam is Stormin Norman bred. was there plenty of interest in the litter? how many pups were there?
  16. i agree chalky but can i find 10 others who'd want a pup?
  17. johnny boy, out of curiosity how were your bitches parents bred?
  18. but its a hard choice for the owner of a decent bitch like mine when it comes to breeding her, she's one of ten her dad is one of eleven, if i bred her to another collie x to keep a pup back would i find maybe another 10 like minded guys
  19. rakes is a cracker and half collie hes bred lurcher to lurcher the hancocks have a pic up of his 3 brothers
  20. there are those who slate hancock and platt but would then run out and buy a grey/collie x grey/deerhound. without these type of breeders we wouldn't have the basic ingredients for many of the lurcher to lurcher / worker to worker types.
  21. the argument will go on forever, the thing is with a hancock bred dog you know exactly what its parents are and however good or well intentioned there are some lurcher to lurcher / worker to worker types that can be part guesswork part fantasy
  22. did you borrow a couple of his pics to put up mark? would be good to see what he ran before he went to the dark side
  23. live and let live and all that..................but it does help if your just a wee bit way hay
  24. she's 4 past and was out of a greyhound called bubbles
