Aye, I checked too, when I saw it it was as near to me as it was going to get so it's plausible I guess. Deffo no aircraft. Yeah, they're not exactly raining down but coming steadily. About as good as I expect. Not seen any that split the sky in two though, just little ones that burn out fast.
-
Coming steadily now, even in my semi urban backyard. Was that the ISS just passed too? Definitely some sort of satellite.

f***ing hell green lurchers, how much for a plate at your table? Those dishes look spectacular! Far cry from my rough and ready cooking.

The human body and it's physiology is far to complex to put into a simple equation. Nobody can tell you whether your calorific intake is sufficient or not based on their own intake or something as simple as your weight (how your weight responds to your intake on the other hand is useful). People have different metabolic rates and more importantly metabolic efficiencies. Somebody might be able to sit at a desk all day on 4k kcals and loose weight whereas someone working hard labour might gain on only 3k. There's a chap called Layne Norton who breaks all this down quite nicely if anyone is a

Feck the meteors, getting a clear view of the Milky Way beats the best meteor shower imo. Cracking spot for it, I bet.

It's Monday! I'll be mellow as f**k this time Friday. I'm not actually trying to attack anyone so much as defend others that probably represent a minority on this site, purely because it's what I consider right. I'm under no illusion (delusion?) that everybody is going to sit round a campfire singing kumbaya before uniting against the tyranny of the anti lobby. LOL

I understood your post fine, you started off with the statement "nobody is better than anybody else" and then went straight into isolating shooters by generalising them as wrong'ens. Again above you give further one sided evidence for why your beloved fieldsport is ethically superior to another's. Shooters can be wankers for taking the high ground just like lurchermen can be wankers for doing exactly the same and then crying about the mean shooters. LOL. Of course no individual doing this sees it because they're blinded by their own sense of moral superiority and so feel completely justifi
-
Why do lurchermen think they have an ethical superiority over a rifleman? What about our friendly fishermen that quite happily sit atop superiority mountain because they don't kill what they hunt. f***ing LOL! So long as we keep pushing this shit it'll continue in a vicious cycle of complete bollocks. Everyone is as bad as one another.
-
Some of the most self professed ethically superior hunting superstars are fishermen, lurchermen and stalkers. It's not uncommon to be tripping over these sort of self righteous arseholes in all three of these circles. Actually chuck in airgunners too. f**k it, it's rife in ever fieldsport! f***ing sickening listening to this "my shit's better because..." garbage! Edited as I'm not exactly overflowing with diplomacy today.

Some of the girls in the US into hunting and shooting are stunners! They're really getting into the bow hunting too. Not saying there aren't attractive women in the field in the UK, but really surprised me how many in the US. Totally different culture it seems.

Mine hasn't killed one yet, to my knowledge anyway. She just finds them in the thickest brash. You'll hear her snorting and then out she comes carrying a hedgepig! Blood matting up her chin, wagging her tail like I don't bollock her every f***ing time! Ha. Even carried babies from the nest. All get returned, so far so good.
-
Shame there's no money in it anymore, my terrier would make me a wealthy man! LOL. I've often thought how useful she would be for doing hedgehog surveys. She's an absolute c**t for them!

Difficult to know what to say to this, other than the obvious. Growing up in Linc's, seeing the Lancaster, spitfires, red arrows, Vulcan tearing by very regularly kept the history of the RAF quite real. Air fields all over, offices and barracks used now as lambing sheds, ruined Pill boxes eaten by the brambles on every farm. Watching the Dambusters on TV it made it all very real and, well, proud. 10 years ago, we had a generation left that knew all about the local history, who's great granddad used to use the search lights for picking potatoes at night and who thought he had shot down

LOL, thought a few people might be surprised. No not been to any London museums or exhibits. I went to the Space Centre when it first opened and as a kid it was amazing. Eating my lunch next to a Blue Streak missile, lol. I'd love to spend some time in DC at the various Smithsonian centres too. Another place in the states I need to visit. NY, LA, Miami and Vegas can wait. I must go to London and get it done...
-
Mate get yourself to the NASA space centre inn Florida it's absolutely amazing, for example an Apollo rocket laid on its side in sections within a hanger!, I seriously pissed off the missus as I was there for 8 hours and still wanted to stay longer I think there's one in Houston too... If I find myself in Texas again in the future I'll make the effort to get there.
-
I don't think you'd need to worry about that BH. Any more than usual I mean. Oh haw haw haw. Right, I must make the effort to go to these places. But I still think the National Space Centre is a no go.
-
Are these places somewhere you look a bit of a lemon without kids or is it socially acceptable for adults to go? LOL The space museum in Leicester must be great these days too, but I'm not going now, I'd feel a right dick.

See what I mean about putting threads on this site, Wilf... half the replies to what should be an innocent and amusing thread are simply "kill it". LOL Every time I think about putting something up, I pre-empt all these critics and just think 'why bother, I've nothing to prove'. That said, cracking tale and I think most of us that have a terrier kicking about can relate. My twat used to eat batteries!
-
The only threads worth posting are controversial ones, otherwise it just doesn't stimulate any debate. I'm not pretending I do shit loads or am anything other than average but I try to get out and do a bit and enjoy a variety or sport at that. These threads are ten a penny though. Other than a few nice pictures I have nothing to contribute.

Wonder how many more donations they got with that little bit of opportunistic hysteria? Fair play.
-
I said commonly not completely. And you should know that we can have the same arguments about every choice of shot placement. My point is that you were giving advice and critisicm to someone who did no wrong on a subject you have no experience of. If that's his preferred shot placement its no less ethical than any of the others. f**k ups can happen with any of them, telling someone to aim better seems a little arrogant. There's no such thing as the perfect shot, just a judgement call.
-
"Pinning the shoulders" is a commonly accepted ethical shot placement. Telling someone to have better aim shows a real lack of experience. http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/shooting/deer-stalking/deer-stalking-meat-loss-or-humane-kill-15647

What do you think is between the shoulders?

If You Could Go Back In Time Where Would You Go??
Born Hunter replied to DogFox123's topic in General Talk
Sometime before the end of the last ice age, over 10'000 years ago. The world wouldn't be that different to what it is now in terms of land distribution etc but to see prehistoric man and the mega fauna would be unreal. Direwolves, Smilodon, Irish Elk, Aurochs, prides of lion roaming most of the planet, huge migratory herds of Bison etc. Hard to imagine.... The Cretaceous would be another good time. I watched too much Conan Doyle as a kid, LOL. -
Having your garden as part of the territory of at least 44 cats is going to really grind on some people. It's a bit shit killing peoples pets but I can sympathise. There has to come a point at which someone says 'hang on a minute, this is beyond reasonable'.
