  1. Frankly, Glenn Ross looked in better shape! There are genuine elite level bodybuilders that do look like the Incredible Hulk, absolute mutant freaks of nature, built from real muscle tissue and not stuff that you could run your truck on! I can almost understand some desperate bodybuilders being tempted to use the stuff to touch up minor imperfections, but to replace conventional bodybuilding ENTIRELY with it is a whole new level of retarded. Fortunately I doubt any of them step foot in a gym, they'd look like total f***ing idiots when a guy half their 'volume' is lifting double wha
  2. f***ing hell mate, that's not what you want to have to deal with! That said, I'm envious that you get to live in such a wild place. The UK have a nasty habit of looking across the pond and just thinking you're all batshit. There's a real lack of understanding of what's going on and what the culture is over there. I've found myself interested in US history and the Republican state/political system lately, particularly why the feck the yanks seem hell bent on ever greater authority considering their history and alleged core values. Anyway, I sympathise with your thoughts but for some reason
  3. Yep, but a factual quote! Where though, Chris? I've heard it said before and I've not managed to find where. https://www.truthorfiction.com/donald-trump-said-republicans-are-the-dumbest-group-of-voters/ "In the end, we couldn’t find any instances of Donald Trump saying that Republicans are the dumbest group of voters. We’re calling this rumor fiction." Makes no odds to me, I'm not a particular fan of his.

Has anybody heard of the IUCN and their conservation status system? There's a lot of "endangered animal" talk on here. Folks do realise that that the Southern White Rhino and African Elephant are not endangered right?
  5. Not true matey. http://www.factcheck.org/2015/11/bogus-meme-targets-trump/
  6. 'If you could choose 5 rifles which calibres do you think are the most versitile to cover the spectrum and would give you virtually a rifle for any occasion' The question was 'any occasion' you'll be squashed by a charging Elephant with out my .470 Nitro! lol! ' For any occasion, lol, okay. Hunting only? I'll need that 300winmag in a highly accurized mountain rifle setup for mountain hunts in NZ and N.America. I'll need a 375H&H mag bolt gun open sights for thick skinned dangerous game in both Africa and N.America. Maybe go a .300 blackout in a AR platform for f***
  7. It's fascinating stuff that's for sure... At the moment she works for a company who design and supply dna testing equipment she's part of the technical support team but it's not really what she wants to make a career out of before that she was doing some work on war graves around Europe helping to identify remains and she would really like to get back to doing that sort of thing once she's settled and set up. Sounds like Bones! Cool stuff.
  8. Anthropology is a fascinating area of science. That and evolutionary biology are the only other things I'd maybe liked to study properly. What job does she do Kanny? I was having this conversation the other day and other than Uni research what is there in that field?
  9. That's interesting as my wife said a very similar thing when researching my looks as I have dark skin black hair but green eyes... Everyone on my dad's side is dark with green eyes but I do know like I said they were Romany barge gypsies they used to run coal along the trent before the trains took over I think green eye's are very typical of Celtic and Northern European. Darkish skin and dark hair most folks seem to relate to Asian or Southern European, which I guess is true but not exclusively. I think those areas tend to be associated with brown eyes too? My family has typically t
  10. Similar story for what I know of my ancestry. From what I've seen from my uncle's research the vast majority, going back 400 years are from Lincs/E.Mids, most within a stones throw and were generally farmers. I can't remember much detail, something I must do one day. At a guess, if my ancestors really were as rooted in this area as I'm led to believe, it looks like we're probably a typical mix of Anglo-Saxon/Briton with a healthy dose of Scandinavian from the Danelaw. There's a bit of speculation that we might have a bit of Romany in too. There's no mistaking my Romany lineage... My nickn

  12. Nick, in the past couple years it seems like a few folks on here have done exactly what you are doing. It's doing me in reading these threads, makes me want to up sticks!
  13. To the best of my knowledge it was the tribes of Britons, who were the descendants of the original settlers of the UK from the last ice age. I think they are Celts but I'm not sure?
  14. Realistically for UK? Five rifle calibers is more than I could find use for. 17hmr 222/223 25-06rem 300winmag (if we're being a bit silly) Frankly the first three is all I could possibly need. If I'm in fantasy land where money, regulation and opportunity aren't issues then I'm gonna need more than five! LOL
  15. I've just done a rough fag packet calculation........ if you carry the one and round up I'd say that leaves you approximately half Yorky, quarter Scot and quarter unknown.

The Chinese and Vietnamese etc medicine markets are not the only cause of poaching in Africa. With no outside influence at all the Africans would still flatten everything with no thought of sustainability simply to feed their appetite for bush meat and expansion. Were we any better 1000 years ago? It's one of the Earth's really special ecosystems from it's shear magnitude and concentration of megafauna. Hopefully one day we find a sensible way to conserve it......
  17. Seen this article this morning. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/28/how-british-are-you-mapped-dna-testing-shows-the-most-anglo-saxo/ Other than it grinding on me that they keep calling Anglo-Saxons, British, lol! I like this sort of stuff. I've been thinking of doing one of the DNA heritage tests. Anybody else done one? In short; Yorkshire was found to have the most Anglo-Saxon blood, closely followed by the East Mid's which also has the most Scandinavian. Unsurprisingly London was the most diverse! LOL I think my fellow East Midlanders will be happy with that, eh l
  18. Quick one, anybody tried this range? I'm considering this instead of one of the typical Gore-Tex jackets on the market. Looks smart and tough but being leather maybe not very breathable?
  19. I remember you shooting threads and wondered where you had gone. Figured you had croaked it! LOL There's a few of us waiting for Brent to bounce back! LOL
  20. There's been a shooting in Surrey as well. Some private party, one dead I believe. The world seems particularly mental this year.
  21. I find that belief bizarre tbh, 'the hunting community are sceptics because they have sensitive egos'. Far more reasonable than they are extremely familiar with their environment and therefore well placed to make a judgement, huh? Other than that yeah good post. With the availability of high spec technology now to the average countryman if these beasts are out there then surely one will be tracked down and documented within a decade.
  22. The puma live trapped in Inverness in 1980 is said to of lived for several years in the wild. Descriptions of the animal had been circulating the area for several years.....which prompted a farmer to set a live trap. Breeding cats I find quite hard to believe, but it's true an individual could last for many years......after all, there are many reported sightings, they can't all be fantasists or can't tell the difference between a dog & a cat? I like to keep an open mind, I've never seen anything remotely cat-like myself, likewise I've never thought for a nano second that a black lab migh
  23. http://www.britishbigcats.org/evidence.php So that's the BBCS's Evidence page................. If that was a scientific brief or report it'd be laughed out of academia. And yet they talk as though it is factual that big cats roam and thrive on these islands. I think it's important to define exactly what is being claimed here. Have large non native felines ever been released/escaped into the UK wild, yes I think that's fairly accepted as having happened. Do they continue to exist in sustained populations............... hmmmm. Do small exotic cat species roam the wild from limited es
  24. I remember one where they brought over some american trapper who looked at all the evidence. I think they went to some estate where the keeper swore he regularly saw them on the lamp and they set traps etc and found squat! There's just no evidence to support big cats roaming the UK and certainly no sustained populations. . There is loads of evidence if you are willing to look, the British big cat society has evidence dating right back to the 80's the guy at the frampton show has all the evidence you need including d,n,a and bone scrape samples, along with some cracking photos I,ve spoken
  25. Cougar, Puma, Mountain Lion, Panther. It's got loads of names.
