So I'm guessing by the description it was something like this: https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/6509590v4820842-young-cougar-felis-concolor-montana-usa ???

Can I just clarify this point Socks. Are you saying it's head is bigger in proportion with it's body relative to a domestic cat? Or simply that it's head is bigger than a domestic cat? Basically, how did you gauge the size of it's head?

Similar line of thought. I often thought a aerosol can in a microwave would make a fair mess of a kitchen.

I can see this definitely being a little goal for me in the future.......Right now I'm outplaying quite a bit of cash on another little hunting project, so I can't see me getting away with getting a bow this year ! Haha..... ......but next year? I can see myself maybe updating this thread next summer....;-) Really looking forward to reading about that Accip.

Badger Hunting With Bushing/tracking Types
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Bushing Dogs
I didn't realise it was paid for by the land owners. So the government bring a law in to protect badgers. Then when the numbers get out of control they bring in a controlled badger cull at the expense of the land owner. Wow. Basically yeh. The cull zones are being slowly increased every year. Hopefully this is a political transition period, acclimatising the country to eventually having more sensible laws on badger management. Not that we'll be chasing them with dogs anytime soon! LOL -
Badger Hunting With Bushing/tracking Types
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Bushing Dogs
I thought so. He's wrong about the civil servants though. The cull is carried out annually by private contractors and paid for by the landowners. I'm a big proponent of hunters doing the job of wildlife management. I thought that method of dog work in addition to looking like good fun also looked very clean compared with other 'methods'. Important in today's political climate. -
I'm not suggesting anything illegal! LOL LOL Just thought this Scandinavian style of badger hunting was quite cool and would be naturally suited to the bushing types. If it were legal I could be quite tempted to kennel a dog, in part, for a bit of this action.

If you're getting involved now, I'm out! Know it all...!! ;-) haha..... But interestingly I believe I'm right in saying that Lions did used to roam this island! So basically it'd just be a reintroduction of a once native species! LOL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panthera_leo_spelaea

I can now see why no one has shot one. I'd be needing a sit down if this Saturday morning I'm creeping about after a muntjac and a f***ing Tiger wonders through the nettles! No doubt in my mind if I could bring myself to some sort of sensible mental state I'd shoot it though. And frankly, if that ever did happen, wear it's hide like a Zulu for ever more!
-
Pretty sure Tiger are absolute masters of stealth, much like and even more so than Leopards. Lions though, are not, lol. They'd be mopped up on the lamp fairly quick over here.

You'd have thought but then although they are basically right for the job in practice I could be persuaded that they would avoid such a foreign beasty. Now, those Biggerstaff hounds are born and bred Cougar/African Leopard hounds, those fuckers aren't bred to shy away from such quarry. From what I've seen of them on social media, they're as serious about hound work and hunting as anyone! "For us it begins and ends with the hounds. They are our life and our passion. Our breeding program is simple- best to the best. If a dog wont put his nose down or doesnt have the heart and grit to hunt da

Get these boys over, Biggerstaff hounds. http://www.biggerstaffguides.com/africa.htm There must be some billionaire with more money than sense who would fund such an 'expedition'. All this evidence and knowledge could surely put some proper big cat hounds in the right area.

God what a time to be a keeper or stalker eh! Back in the late 20thC when all these beasts were apparently released in the British countryside. Head out for a roe buck and come back with a f***ing pride of African Lions! Lined out on a maize crop ready for the first drive, "Steady away and keep the line!", then all of a sudden there's a snarl and the maize rattles like a raptor in the long grass and a f***ing Leopard sprints through the line!

Looking forward to it actually Love a good BBQ! Sounds like Heaven.

Bloody hippy dippy pantheist talk!

I suggested exactly that on the site suggestions. Something like using the @STIFFMEISTER thing. I got rinsed for it by the old c**ts! LOL

Used to have dislike if ya remember. We just used it for bullying! LOL I say 'we' as though I'm one of the cool kids. HA

The fella that had that stamped on him is either A} Completely f***ing deranged, like a danger to society, potentially serial killer material. Or B} Really hates his ex and wanted to socially torment her. Utterly mental!

Video Of Huntsman Spearing Charging Boar
Born Hunter replied to Born Hunter's topic in Big Game Hunting
He was lucky to not hit the femoral artery! I watched another of his clips where he is bowhunting in a blind by a water hole in Texas and they get a bunch of illegals come running through, which gave them the panic because they thought the illegals were armed drug runners! HA! Most of that spear hunting seems to be from tree stands. Fair enough and I understand why but wouldn't really interest me. -

I can't see the clip on this machine Ted, but I assume it's the one of the Bowmar black bear hunt? It didn't look particularly good spearing an unassuming bear over bait but I did think fair play to the lad. He trains hard and hunted a dangerous critter without a backup firearm with a very basic weapon. The anti lobby are forever saying shit like "you wouldn't be so brave face to face" or "you wouldn't be so brave without a gun/pack of dogs". Well that fella proved em wrong and they just got even more outraged! LOL. Think UA dropped him as one of their brand ambassadors/athletes too, which -
Because the international effort to deal with it has less substance than a pink haired soap dodging modern liberal! There should have been a European naval task force deployed of dozens of ships headed by the RN consisting of helicopter carriers, frigates and patrol ships with constant aerial patrols. What we actually sent was HMS Ocean and I think a single patrol vessel as a token humanitarian effort.

.243 For Munjac / Roe /fox
Born Hunter replied to David.evans's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've got a T3 and it's good for the money but I wouldn't say that it couldn't be improved. I'd like to see a metal trigger/mag guard, metal double stack mags and also the option of 22" barrel. The Sako fits that requirement better I suppose but is significantly more expensive. That's probably what I'll replace the T3 with when I feel like it. not that my T3 has let me down mind. -
Frankly a hunt kennel open day and show is more enjoyable than game fairs these days! These 'game fairs' are nothing more than giant carboot sales with the odd fieldsports demonstration. It should really be wall to wall country but they aren't and perhaps that doesn't pay the bills. Last few I've been to I've been round everything of interest twice in a couple hours. They just aren't worth the expense or time anymore.

Just look at a graph of debt as a % of gdp and impose the terms of governments on it. I have but I can't upload it on this machine. IMO it shows a fairer picture because borrowing to stimulate growth is good. It's dominated by the effects of the War debt and in more recent times significant events include the '90s financial crisis and the '08 GFC. In honesty I don't think there is enough data to make a fair assessment of either parties ability to govern economically. Clearly after the War there was huge potential for economic growth and savings which both Labour and Tory's made. Later,
