Lucky to shoot a small grouse moor a couple of times a year….a young grouse roasted tonight with plums and honey…probably the finest game bird I’ve ever eaten

Duck not worth shooting really this time of year, they need to feather up…….but the call of goose is strong grasshopper ……

I was out this morning inland with 2 mates. Had 5 Greylag and a Mallard between us….

Go big or go home ….a little Brandy goes a long way ….

You won’t be disappointed…I put a splash of Brandy in mine mate ….I know your tea total and all that but just go with it

Sauté a Leak or onion in a splash of oil with 3 whole garlic cloves. Add the Puff…make sure you peel it…cut into cubes. Add some thyme and salt and pepper…fry off for 5 mins then add water/chicken stock and boil for 10 mins. Blitz it up and I added some Parmesan and cream to make it smooth and rich and it was superb

Been a splendid day today, found some big puffballs which have made really good soup…dug out a grouse from the bottom of the freezer….we are on the moor next weekend so it needed roasting….been in there 12 months but very good..

Exactly, a mate of mine was found adrift in the Irish Sea trying to get to Blighty, having run out of fuel on th way back from the Carrabian…he went straight to jail and didn’t pass go

Absolutely, ticked the box, just back from some rice and pork stand ( decided against the lobster return fixture )…..view lacking but food made up for it at a fraction of the cost

No mate, unhappily I had a booking for a night but have to return a day early so have missed that experience. The food is overrated but I guess your not paying for the food

Should have gone with my initial choice of lobster mate. A pal of mine is one of the chefs here….I will be having a word when I go back tonight and pass on your constructive criticism

Mate, it want the best and I shared your disappointment but the view made up for it

I’ve done it a few times. If you can source a good food supply ie old veg and scraps etc then you might make it pay. Feeding pellets obviously ups the cost.
