  7. Well it was 'that' time of year again and the old bus pointed North and off we went. A lot of rain had come down but the West coast had been spared and a short hop accross on a ferry and we saw the burns were running just right First port of call were a couple of pots that we had implied permission to check......bingo a full house Well that was tea sorted, a couple of beers led to another couple and one thing led to another and before we knew it we were down on the shore by a rather fetching spate stream.......just the kind of place where any self respecting sea trout would love t

  11. i sat and watched my local nick lowering their flag to half mast yesterday. very sobering it was..........and then the wpc doing it went and pulled the rope too hard and snapped the top off the flagpole And yes, of course the punishment needs to be seen to be greater for killing a cop otherwise we will disolve into anarchy. Anybody who cant see that is very very stupid.

  18. Nice work there Cumbrian, what would you recommend for small sea trout, say 3lbish ? Hypothetically fishing in a smallish sea pool. I'm thinking Mepps ?
  19. The fly is what I usually use, upstream dry, or nymph, but the himalayan balsam and knotweed has put a stop to that except for the places where it is shallow enough for waders. I only use a little 6ft fly rod, and there are still places where it is not to bad. For a large stretch of the river, at least one bank is man made, as a result of all the old cotton mills and other industry that has long gone, so is quite deep in places. The spinner is more for a quick 10 minutes on the way home from work, or when I am with the kids! How much do you pay to fish that stream if you don't mind
