    woodcock

How do you tell the difference between resident and migrant then ? Lol
  4. Woodcock, the ultimate sporting bird. The mystery, the distances travelled, the eating qualities. If I had just one quarry to shoot and eat before I left this earth it would be a woodcock.........followed closely by a plump cock Teal.

  17. After feeding 3 sacks of grain and counting the ducks coming in we shot last night. As usual, and like clockwork, the first to move were the gulls....great long lines of them. Then came the crows, all heading for roost, one of them and a pigeon hit the flood as i couldnt resist. Then came the geese, canadas and greylags, not heading for this stubble but somewhere else. I called a few of the packs and one lot of 4 came close enough and although one shuddered to my shot it kept going..... A short pause and then it was ducktime. I havnt seen that many duck for a long time, they w

  21. Mate if it is him i dont think he will ever be released. He will be one of those 'special' cases like that dirtbag Ian Huntley that never sees the ouside of the prison walls. We can only hope he gets disembowelled inside by some mad fecker wanting to make a name for himself.
  22. With all the water that came down last week the brooks and dykes were sure to overflow. Once every couple of years it happens just right and we have either a flooded stubble or even better flooded late standing crops........a veritable duck 'take away' The water here stays for around 3 weeks and you have to make the most of it while its still there. Two sacks of barley have gone in and the ducks have found it. Theres always a few geese around when the standing water is about and i came accross this little lot this morning as i went to feed the flood next door So we shoot it
