  8. Great read as ever brim,,,, for the first couple of times we ferreted the bank me and vin have been dooing,,, we often herd the tell tail sounds of a stoat connecting with a rabbit,,, and we got to witness a bunny being ran to ground.... Later that day we came across a rabbit,, exactly as you describe,,, alive but only just,, and badly mauled around the neck,, it ended up in the bag as well,,,
  9. Ship rat Is different to the brown,,,I did a course 10 year ago at kilgerm,, there was a father and son pest team there from Gibraltar ,, he was telling me most of there work was killing the black rat ,,Rattus rattus, If my memory is correct they called them tree rats ,, as apparently they are very good climbers and spend a lot of time in trees and high up.... Me personally have never seen one or trapped one

  12. If her estimate of size is correct,, a two and a half foot ferret is a big boy,,, that's for sure ,, it could be a mink of course,,, you will soon find out if your trapping is successful ,,,, have you seen the droppings ?
  13. Far nicer charts,,,, I remember those others on that Russian film of a coursing club out there,,, they had borzoi and crosses running far more workmanlike , than the showy things we have
  14. The coat wouldn't be any different in the field to some of the rough coated little lurchers like the beddy crosses Some of them modern beddys have terrible coats,,, proberbly due to crossing god knows what in to the show strains,,, poodle , think some of those British bred borzoi's, had lassie collie added,, another dog with a horrible silky coat. That back on the one pictured would put me off, Wasn't it the other way round, Tomo ? Collies had Borzoi blood added, supposedly to give them a "better" head ? Cheers. Oh maybe... I could be wrong then,,, wouldn't be the fi

  23. Nice o ne mate hunting is often thinking thinking outside the norm..... Years ago we used to poach pheasants with the aid of a Brocken down bit of rabbit proof fencing near a covert.,, We would go and whistle the birds up same as a keeper does, the fence was bent over so it was like a tunnel,, we would peg it over like this for about 10 feet, closing one end, and peg the eges down with sticks, the open end was opened out wide, we would then whistle,, and scatter corn in to the tunnel .......and bobs your uncle .
  24. Im predicting a 141 this week... lol. maybe 142 if i take my dog aswell.. Maybe you should invite Cookie and see what his Curs could add to the Pot. .But he would'nt come he will be way too busy purse netting his big 500 hole warrens Yeh 200 southern shandy drinking rabbits,, most of them are welsh,, bet you can tell the difference when you come north,,, lol All joking aside last week me and vin went out to east anglier , had 18 lamping and they were far smaller than those brutes from the dales,, and they seemed in poor nick as well as being small. Mind they still ran like
