no hunting with lurchers in Holland mate.....mind its hard enough here.... go to Australia or nz mate.....both great countrys with loads of hunting fishing.....but I recon oz for earning coin
-
put a pic up if you can mate.....im sure you will see there a bit thicker plastic than the others
-
yes mate made one after seeing that of yours a few year back.....only took 15 mins ..dead easy....down side was that the plastic where the poles go is two bendy....apart from that I thought it was better than the basket because as you say it stops them getting caught up....also I think its lighter.....with a couple of short 20 yarders in there perfect...
-
seen one a few year back and should have picked one up......they look like an army jerry can type thing...but slightly fatter with a big hole where the liquid or whatever was in comes out.....these things seemed to be a heavier thicker plastic
-
not done any nite netting for a good few year.....learned the old way like yourself....nowt wrong with that either....but the basket and poles ...yeh there heavy and cumbersome...but easy to use once you got the hang......even at night.....at night with each pole you lift out I lift the pole up high and kind of flick the net like when you throw a bed sheet over a bed ..so the slack in the net runs down the running lines....or you can end up with bagging gathered round each peg
-
the two reasons I have found the extra length good...uneven ground....and for actualy putting the nets and poles back in the basket the poles being longer keep the net right going in the basket.....bit hard to explain until you use one
-
when I have looked on his site most seem to be 2.1/8 ..or 4.1/4 deepending on your view on how a mesh should be measured .....they come from the sheet neeting ....like cumbian I like the 4z..... best place to buy that is from advanced netting ....although when I lokked a few week back it was out of stock......only £30 ish I think for 200 yard.....make them yourself... ive got a big basket from brinded about 15 year ago....and a mate made me another smaller thing based on master hunters design....allan salmon.....that's where the poles lift out from a cup style rather than above the b
-
the poles are longer cos they go in the ground further than a trad net in general ....on a trad the end pin keeps the net tight .....whereas the idea of pre set is each pole keeps the net tight.....that's the theory anyway.....but as cumbrian says anchoring with a purse net is a good idea sometimes....
-
yes the impetuosity of youth......I was 35.........glad I bought her though
-
I have no idea who bred either dog....it would be nice to know a bit more about my own.....spent 20 mins talking to the fella at the cattle market....then paid my ££ dough and walked away with her.....he told me her breeding was deer/grey x whipp/grey....the guy was from down in heartfordshire ....don't even know his name....
-
yeh it pissed me off the not knowing....I hoped a nice family picked her up in the local village.....because she was very good pet dog as well....she had a very relaxed attitude ... even if I had found her dead in a ditch at least I would have known.....but not a bloody thing.....
-
sadly not mate I only had her just over two years...befor I lost her whilst out coursing....she ran a hare and was never seen again.....I looked and looked for her for days on end...posters up ...rang dog catchers police rspca ect.....she was microchipped .....but never got her back ..I was gutted of course....my plan was to put her to the other dog in the avatar pic...who belongs to maxhardcore of this site
-
better pic of her.....she has the red collar on....has a wider chest than the other dog....her name was Sally
-
see if this works...mines the red bitch.....
-
correct amount of collie....
-
there was a thread a few years back about folk that don't look after there kids right.... and I remember saying at the time....what you just said.....as long as kids are well fed ..warm ...and loved....everything else after that is extras....like phones playstations ect
-
it is still on ..on a Tuesday morning mate....still a few characters there....me and the mrs went just a few weeks ago.... the lurcher that's in my avatar ...im the shorter fella holding the trophy....that lurcher came from cattle market ....a chap was walking round with her...he was meeting somone to sell her but the fella never turned up....he wanted £120 for her...I gave him £60 ......I drove home with her stretched out on the back seat....my mrs was preggers at the time....been to one of the swimming classes for preggers women....picked her up from the baths.....she didn't half get a

how old are you moocher??...did you experience life like that .....bet there some cracking stories to tell.... grand old age for your nan.....it might have been hard life for her....but by Christ she did well on it
-
there was a chap still doing the knife sharpening around Leicestershire ....he was often stoped just outside melton Mowbray .....local news did a piece on him about 10 year ago...we often used to see him when we were out coursing that way
-
loving them pics moocher what lovely happy bunch they seem ...from what must have been a tuff life.... and its good they had the pics done ...how many would have thought back then ....they might be the last generation to live like that....
-
back to a collie.....to get rid of the annoying greyhound traits ....
-
sept or oct last year I killed a dozen in an hour or so with bonnie here in Nottinghamshire.....never seen as many in a small area with it....very sad cos only a month earlier on a walk with the kids...they counted 46 rabbits running across a footpath on a sunny sunday afternoon on the same bit of land....real shame cos its a nice place for a wander
-
really I don't think there that common place.....all these crimes that get commited with the same handgun....leads me to believe there not that common.....and I cant remember an army type machine gun being used .....and look at all the black kids stabbing each other.....wouldn't they be using a handgun for £200 notes.....our recant terror attacks ..guys in cars ...or machete's .....not a machine gun ....leads me to think perhaps our gun laws have stoped that hapening
-
that's about the right amount....
-
its intresting isn't it ...the rabbit was supposed to have originated in the Iberian peninsular (spain Portugal) around costal regions.....yet here you have two totally different ecologys and weather .....the dry arid almost desert like conditions of Australia ....and the cold wet conditions of the highlands of Scotland and the rabbit has thrived in both...ok the Australian conditions might be similar to where they evolved....but not the highlands
