  1. Mainly hedges, sore on the old back especially when you are a lone hunter.
  2. If you had a an Angry Pit bull at your backside would you not bolt.
  3. None at all, I have not had any yet with young.
  4. Regarding hedge netting and difficult spots, its only natural we look for the easy way out, but a lot of the times you cant beat the old purse net, i know its a bugger laying them along a hedge, and having to do a bit of crawling, but it can be productive.
  5. Has the net loft, started up again, as I see they still have a web site, or are they redundant?
  6. Them people .who own them soft hairdresser type ferrets, which never get a drop of claret on their whiskers ,and say ,i dont need a locater, means, carry on dreaming ,your not, really , in the game. I like this. I have a brother and sister, last years kits, the Jill has now killed in her last two outings, and stuck to her Rabbit, good for a dig, The hob is a powerful beast, and although he has bolted a few, appears not to have killed yet, he does come out with fur in the claws but no claret in the whiskers yet, which has surprised me, as i thought he would have killed before the jill, but
  7. Im the same never bothered with boosters, and have never had a problem, but not anymore, i have him insured and kennel him when on holday, you must have boosters for both.
  8. Years ago i could walk over some fields that you would regular see a few hares, nice to see, last year i walked this land half a dozen times, and never saw one, heard it was being lamped regulary even the summer months, nice to see the video.
  9. good idea albert, but with the bunting its light, and you can roll it up and put in your bag, what hight and length is the ply that you use?
  10. Regarding hedge netting, netrigger on here gave me a good tip, you can run your nets each side of the hedge, then if you can pick up some of the orange plastic bunting they use in building sites, you can put this through the hedge, and when Rabbits are running the hedge this will push them into the nets.
  11. Excellent grip, muck books, i was going down a wet grass hillside wearing muck boots, there was a fence running down the slope, the feet just went from me, i grabbed the fence, to cushion my fall, ended up with four stiches on my finger, muck boots no grip, emailed the company about this, and the didnt have the decency to reply. ended up screwing wader studs in to them. would not buy another pair.
  12. Barbed wire, drawing pins, just find a home with someone that feeds catch game to Dogs and ferts. and it wont matter about bruising, next thing someone will put a post up, of a dummy that delivers an electric shock.
  13. (these people are old gamekeepers) Never known keepers to pay much attention to ferts, the ones i have seen, hardly go near them, just chucking in a rabbit, i remember years ago a keeper selling young ferts, they were a good age, he opened the hutch, they had never been handled, and would have bit your hands to bits. never bought ferts from keepers after that.
  14. I suppose there could be ways of curing the problem, all depends what you do with your game, I had a Bedlington x Greyhound that was hard mouthed, and would bruise the Rabbits, i know its not desirible, but as i just fed my rabbits to the dogs and ferts i wasnt to bothered, as she was a good catcher and marker, so worth her salt in other ways.
  15. I took out a years subscription, used to read it years ago, have to say i have been disapointed in the running dogs imput, i also think its more a Terrier mag, i think internet sites like this has not helped, as you can read everything you want on here, and other sites, and if there are posts that dont interestyou, then you ignore, I wont be taken out another subscription.
  16. Two cracken pups Lawrence, like the breeding, also the black and white.
  17. Very nice, like the one with the Pheasant.
  18. Years ago i had three freezers,i was using all methods and would average 100 a week, one night with the Keeper he shot 120, I opened the gates and got to keep the rabbits, now im out once a week, with the ferts, and if i get 6 im happy, these are skinned for the dog and ferts, i think i enjoy it more, bringing on a young pup, and watching this years kits coming on
  19. Couldn't really tell what they were like on fox, as here in the South west years ago, no one bothered them with dogs, it was only hares and rabbit, and Pheasant., first dog I ever saw jack on a hare was a collie x greyhound, I saw another one, run a few, but never seen it catch, after a course, you never saw the dog, you went to the nearest water, and he would be submerged with just his head sticking up. have to say all collie crosses i saw were Borders. Ive been more a lover of Bedlington crosses, have to say all the collie crosses i did see had good feet, if i was going down that line i wo
