  1. Yes me, don't use it much, theres not a lot of activity, don't know if there are many members, theres a few decent lads on it though.
  2. When getting my Hob snipped, my Vet read up on it, and said also six to eight weeks, his six weeks will be up on the 31st of March, so just hoping the op has been a success, On reading the posts on this subject I would say the above time appears to be the norm, don't know if I should put him in on the first date, or wait the extra two Weeks, I expect the six weeks would be okay, Any advice?
  3. Walking The Whippet, and Flyfishing, and keeping the Ferrets cleaned oot.
  4. A Master craftsman, good man to deal with.
  5. To bring this post back on track. Border Bitch if you are going to carry on with the Ferret game I sugest you start with a book something like Ferreting An Essential Guide By Simon Whitehead, lots of info in there on Ferret husbandry, breeding ect. Then get a spare hutch, if you are going to keep Jills you can get a hob, and have it vasectomised, which will bring your Jills out of Season, but will have to be kept in the spare hutch on his own for six weeks after the op. or talk to the vet about Jill jabs, this also brings them out. or you can just keep them on there own, making sure their
  6. Just heard in the Scottish news of a Fox been shot in Aberdeen which measured 4ft 9inches from nose to tip of tail.
  7. I also have been ferreting a long time 43 years, also started with no locator, now would not go out with out one, in fact the last time out, my battery went, i do usualy carry spares, but had left my spares bag at home, and ferreting was not the same, I did bolt a few, but could have had more with the locator. Ferreting has moved on for the better with this tecnology, and also the same with feeding, you hardly hear of anyone feeding bread and milk, and ferret complete for the Summer Months has been a good thing. I often wonder what locators will be like in fifty years time.
  8. Snap I was in Singapore airport last march, imagine if we had been sitting together, the craic would have been good.
  9. Simple is the best method, wrap them up in your hand and wrap the draw cord round, as most have suggested, You dont need pegs, socks, or elastic bands, its a piece of cake.
  10. £46 he went in at 9am, went through at 12 Noon and was with them till 7pm, five days later he was examined and given the all clear no infection, so i suppose its not bad.
  11. I used to write for them a few years back Malt under the pen name Tote but stopped when I had two house moves in quick succession. Know what you mean about digging it out, I kept all the mags I had an article in and used to get them out of the attic and have a look at them now and again. I know, the word saddo springs to mind. You will be writing a book next. :D
  12. Its a well known fact the BWRA racing whippets are faster than the pedigrees, but of the two, who has the better stamina, in the field.
  13. Have you worked her yet, youve ended up with a really good set up, and thats a nice Jill.
  14. Well done, they are well looked after, is there no one in your area with a snipped hob you could have used?
  15. You should have had a spare hutch for the Hob, and kept him seperate for six weeks, then you should have put him with the jills for three days, then if he was being rough with them, you put him back on his own, till your jills come out of season. Regarding ferrets eating young, some will and some wont, but what was the point on paying for a vasectomy, and putting jills through having young, just in the hope they will be eating, im sure you could have picked up a rabbit hutch cheap.
  16. Dont know yet, just had my hob sniped last week, ask me the question in six weeks time.
  17. caught my hob dragging the Jill round the hutch by the scruff of the neck, she is not in Season but maybe is not far away.
  18. Maybe a good idea, but who woud do the digging, and what would your Wifes and partners think of their lawn being dug up for smelly ferrets.
  19. Yeah, i knew this would be picked up on, the roof actually lies flat with fastening clips, making it impossible to escape, i started keeping Ferrets 43 years ago, so I know all about their escapes, ferts had only been put in whilst photo was taken, thats why i stuck the logs on top, should have mentioned this, been using the run for 6 months, they are in there on dry days up to 5 hours, and if that jill could escape she would have. CJ.
  20. You dont need anything fancy, this run was given free, by a former pet Rabbit owner,
  21. cheers Whippet X Grey, if you hear any news of this club, could you drop me a pm.
  22. Get yourselve a small second hand freezer, or a large if you have the room, handy for Dog food as well, feed them raw Rabbit pieces through the Winter, and in the Summer when flies are about, feed a ferret complete.
