  1. There was a lad from my neck of the woods who always had Collie X Greyhounds and 3/4 dogs, going back 50 years, had some useful dogs, none were Hancock bred, he would get hold of a track bitch and find a long legged working hill collie, plenty where i come from give the Farmer a bottle of Whiskey, and away you go.
  2. probally put it wrong, as it includes consult ion fee which is okay, but if i needed another tube, i would need a vets prescription, or would the vets just sell me a tube.
  3. Thanks Chook, thought i would have had more than one reply
  4. Started on September last year been on a few different locations, never came across any young yet, all been good health rabbits. Saw a couple of Rabbits yesterday chasing each other in circles.
  5. What age is she ? up to a year i just pump as much quality grub into them as they want, mine gets two raw chicken wings for breakfast then minced Lamb, Chicken and Beef, used to feed raw but he went off it, i now cook it for 15 mins, he also gets all my ferreted rabbits, i should feed oily fish once a week, but he is fucy and wont touch it, i always have a bowl of quality complete that he can take adlib supplements SA50 and cod liver oil three times a week.
  6. My pup had a slightly sore eye, i looked up Penny Taylors book who recommended Fucithalmic, i took him down to my vet, who had a quick look at the eye, and prescribed the Fulcithalmic twice a day, I was charged £18.95, On line i could purchase it for £4.82, but you need a vet prescription, that you ask your vet to fill out, are vets willing to do this, and any ideas what they would charge?
  7. Bedlington X greyhound first cross this will not be smooth haired and should take what you describe.
  8. Everyone to their own methods, ive had some good marking dogs over the years, never needed to stick dead rabbits or skins down holes, the only thing i put down a hole is a Fert. i take my pups out at six months, they watch the Ferrets going down they hear the rumble, and see them hitting the net. They also chase them to the bury and see them going to ground, at some point the penny will drop, and they will start to mark.
  9. ,and as for long net yoll not get much set there Whin, i knew you would spot that, i had just acquired this net, so i was having a look at it, and was regulating it, and tied in the running kill with tape. this was on a playing field next to my house.if yey were smert, you would have noticed the foot line is to high. :tongue2:
  10. Never had one kick its way out of a poke net.
  11. A poke net, or in Scotland sometimes called a double pegger. you should always have four of these in your bag, very handy.
  12. a 25 yarder, not set up in a working situation, this is a quickset, I prefer the traditional with end pins for ferreting, i suppose its what you were brought up with. i was regulating it, and taping
  13. is there anything Mick disna sell.
  14. Netrigger is a craftsman, purchase any nets of Bill, and i guarantee you wont be disappointed.
  15. Is this what you mean, a slider on a poke net made by Netrigger.
  16. You just take your pup out with the Ferts i start mine about 6 months, they soon get the idea, always lots of praise when they mark and the rabbits at home. Whatever you do dont praise if the pup just puts his head down, and you dont know nothing is there,, unless you really have a good idea, he is not telling lies, as this can lead to false marking.
  17. After marking the bury quietly, this whippet pup is waiting for the bolt.
  18. My Whippet x bedlington was a superb marker, she would approach the bury quietly then tilt her head to the side, then she would go behind the bury and lie in wait, the way it should be, dont like to see dogs with head right in the bury, they could be snorting and telling the rabbits.
  19. I have always used Two, unless i was just going out for a mooch, means you can give one a rest, or if if im in a big warren, i can use the two.
  20. Out today, for a couple of hours hedge ferreting, you would think i had been fighting with my partner, three scratches on the face, Three Rabbits bolted and one dug, Whippet pup marked the four burys, hes got a good nose on him. Also today Jill ferret made its first kill, when i dug out the Rabbit it was stone dead, between the Brother and Sister the Jill is the best worker, although the Hob can shift them, he has not yet made a kill, it will come though, he is just a bit slower at coming on.
  21. Mick Dadd im sure if you do a search it will come up, maybe one of the Mods could pin this topic.
