  1. Hi peeps, My Hob has won the lottery and is going for the snip Friday Morning, Being and old ferreter I need advice, After the op, when can he be put with Jills, in other words when will he be firing blanks? When jills are in season how long do you keep him with the jills? Even if op is successful, can you keep him with the Jills permanent, or is it better to separate them till all swelling has gone in the Jills? I have a spare hutch i take it he would need to be on his own after the op, as he would be drousy and sore after op, or could he just go back in with the Jill. When would he be
  2. Good Morning out, really enjoyed, i am usually a lone hunter, but it was good to have a bit of craic with Tote, we will be going out again, before it gets to late for ferreting, and we have a nights lamping planned. Cheers Tote, really enjoyed it.
  3. I went every year and you soon got to know the lads, you could have a good craic, like I said, maybe i was lucky, but any fert i bought at Lowther worked well enough for me.
  4. hope the Rabbit with the whie streaks bolts. and doesnt get nabbed by the ferts.
  5. Lowther game fair was great place to buy a ferret and bring in new blood, i used to take a litter of kits sell them in the Ferret tent, and then buy a replacement, they used to have all colours, and every one I bought worked, dont know if they still do it, as i think Lowther was on last year, anybody that was there, can you still buy and sell Ferrets?
  6. Use Hazel its good and its free, Best time to cut Hazel between October and February, the thickness of your little finger, good info in the book for you, peg to peg, by Martin King. first remove all burrs and rough spots then round the top end, normally the thickest then point them. some cut notches in the Hazel for the headline to sit, but i never bothered with this method. some say 24 to 26 inches, but i liked mine shorter 21 inches, an old netter who taught me, also used the method in the book. Take the hazel and place one end into your armpit and strech out your arm, whereyour pal
  7. I have never met Whin, didnt agree with a lot he said, when i could understand what he had written But I did find his posts entertaining, I still dont know what he actually did to get banned, But I wouldnt mind if he was brought back on board.
  8. Just checked his name and profile, says banned below his name, anyone know why?
  9. I have found a warren in new permission, that i can park my car next to, Its a six holer, easy to net, have done it twice, the first time I bolted six Rabbits in 10 mins, returned today and bolted five, in about the same time, never needed to dig. wish they were all like that, Had one dig later, not good, came across a very small young Rabbit, had one in young last week, but this is the first, baby rabbit i have come across. Sorry no photos, forgot to take the Camera.
  10. Theres a post on the Working Bedlington Forum, called Beddy X Grey, theres a post by Oldand who says his working Beddy has just lined a greyhound.
  11. Although the Border, JRT and Patterdale have been crossed with a Whippet and do produce good Rabbiting dogs, I personally think you cant beat the bedlington cross, a good Beddy X whippet should work cover as good, or better than the above crosses, the Bedlington also has an exceptional nose. and the conformation, lends it better to the Whippet, producing a faster cross than other Terriers, therfore being able to take more Rabbits on the run, and also you can lamp them. Just my opinion.
  12. No, thats my partner, should have said, in her right hand,
  13. Bump De Bump.come on you owners of numerous Jills, you know it makes sense.
  14. He is a bit bigger now. photo taken today, just returned from a mornings ferreting.
  15. I have last years Albino hob, has been working and bolting Rabbits, he is a Pussycat to handle no nips, or bites, from this Lad, and comes straight out, no peek a booing. Im keeping his sister, he is bred from good working parents, and is from a line of workers. i prefer jills so i am looking for a last years Jill, to swap. No Biters, Lurkers, Nippers, or Slackers or Peek A booers, Im in South West Scotland. Will stick a photo up
  16. I have a good insulated Kennel, heated with a Pig lamp, but im afraid he prefers this.
  17. No wonder he was fair at £72 my vet quoted me £46.
  18. Whoever came up with noise, a cross between Hawkwind, Startreck , and the Pink Floyd must have been on Acid.
